After watching the video again I realized the Virtual Boy went in water! 😯

I did go to the wayback machine to look at how this site looked years ago before (and interestingly enough, one of the few versions of Planet Virtual Boy looked like a site I swore I have seen before years ago… I was looking at various Nintendo related sites back then, but didn’t seem to remember reading about/remembering what the Virtual Boy is)

I think they probably didn’t want to use battery holders because then you could just replace the battery easily, meaning… you’d most likely spend time on the game you’ve already bought rather than buying whichever newer game(s) the same people who made that game made 😉

a “I’m afraid of soldering so I guess I’ll have to buy the re-make (if there is one)” situation

(also, if your battery was defective around the time they were still selling said game (but after the 30 day warranty) they would probably use the excuse of “we might mess up the soldering (and it takes time/effort) so just buy a new cartridge”)

but thats just a theory, really

Up and down, depending who’s selling the stuff… I’ve seen new VB’s at crazy prices (since I got mine) but then I’ve seen VB’s that are new that were less than mine

I still really really love the Virtual Boy despite it being the reason I don’t have a 3DS (it took my Christmas + Birthday money! …yet I do have Wario Land (US), Vertical Force (JP), V-Tetris (JP) and Mario Clash (US) ’cause of that now! plus I was gifted Virtual Fishing 😀 (which actually was unrelated to Christmas and my Birthday))

like I say all the time, it is my goal to get every commercially released VB game! even despite how scary Virtual Bowling is (price wise! Bowling in itself isn’t scary…)

by the way, I just recently got Virtual Pro Baseball ’95! only 21 games to go! 😉

I’m so glad your Virtual Boy didn’t have some major problem that might have been unfixable 😉

where did you store your Virtual Boy? maybe it got moist and broke some parts of it yet dried enough for it to still sorta work? (one time there was this cable box that got water on it, it went extremely buggy, had no audio, but still managed to show a messed up version of the TV station it was on)

I thought of scanning a VB reference (it was a mini-quiz) I saw in last month’s Nintendo Power, but would that count? its not an old issue… 😕
