Here’s scans of the only Blockbuster sticker(s) I had left. It’s two Mario’s Tennis stickers on top of each other, so it was a bit tricky to scan the bottom one, but it’s readable. If anyone has any other stickers, post them! 🙂

Hmm, I hope the connector works. This would be great! There must be some way to reproduce the cart shells, it’s just some plastic after all. It’d be good to to not have to destroy VB games anymore to build custom carts. How much would a connector cost if bought in a big lot?

Ouch! I can’t really go through the trouble to learn a new CMS and port all my custom modules over. I also tried Mambo and Drupal before I chose Xoops due to the easy way of creating my own modules. I think if the few issues there are with Xoops are fixed with the new releases, it’s still perfect. I know that at least the auto login made it into the Core now. I have to check it out soon…

Another funtionality which seems to be broken in Xoops. I tried to enable that feature a while ago, but it never sent out the confirmation emails.

Another reason to switch to the latest Xoops core soon…

That’s all problems with the Xoops system, so there’s not much I can do without massive hacks. When I have two or so full free days, I’ll probably have to update to the latest Xoops and forum module versions anyway, in case there’s no easier way to fix the auto login issue. We can only hope that said problems no longer apply with the newer versions.

En el juego de Dragon Hopper tu controlas a un pequeño Dragón de nombre Dorin (quien para rematar es príncipe) que debe rescatar a su familia y su amada Diana quienes fueron secuestrados por el primer ministro de su padre (el Rey. claro está) así que su misión es la de buscar la ayuda de los 4 espiritus de su reino y de esta manera tener el poder suficiente para enfrentarse al diabólico primer ministro y liberar a sus seres queridos. En lo que menos debe fijarse uno en este juego es en la historia, pues es bastante sencilla, quemada y hasta predecible, pero afortunadamente para los jugadores, el juego no comparte la misma suerte que la historia.

Este efecto de subir y bajar está muy bien hecho y en el Virtual Boy realmente da un efecto de profundidad lo que ayuda a ser más vistoso el juego.

Si, el juego parece de una mecánica bastante sencilla y lo es, pero lo que le ayuda bastante es que en Bound High tenemos varios modos de juego diferentes entre sí, pues podrás escoger entre jugar el modo de Aventura (que es el modo principal y donde puedes enfrentarte hasta con algunos jefes), el modo de Score (donde buscarás hacer el máximo récord), el modo de Random (donde te dan varias misiones al azar con diferente dificultad entre ellas) y el modo de Pocket y Cushion gue son juegos de Golf y Billar en donde dependiendo como caigas sobre las pelotas, sera la direccion y velocidad que tomes. Rápidamente podemos decir que este juego es bastante sencillo, pero que también es muy entretenido y que los efectos de altura se ven muy bien en el VB.

¡Valla!, después de bastante tiempo de espera podremos disfrutar de un título de carreras para el VB y lo mejor de todo es que es un juego de alta velocidad, que a decir de los que ya tuvieron la oportunidad de jugarlo, es bastante bueno y se siente muy bien lo sensación de velocidad.

Este juego está planeado para salir en un par de meses así que no hay demasiados detalles en él, pero si te podemos decir que aquí encontraremos 4 diferentes tipos de naves, las cuales vuelan en los canales que conforman las pistas que tiene el juego. Las naves tienen diferentes caracteristicas (como suele pasar en los juegos de Nintendo) así que deberás acostumbrarte a una nave we acelere rápido pero que no tenga bueno velocidad o a otra que tenga excelente velocidad pero que se tarde los años. Otra cosa we nos comentaron acerca de este juego es que se podría decir que se trata del F-Zero pero para VB, lo cual ya habla bastante bien de él. Por lo tanto, solo nos queda esperar para poder informarte mas.

This game is planned to exit in a couple of months so not too many details, but we can say that there will be four different types of ships which fly in the channels the game uses for tracks. Virtual Bomberman

Otro título que presentó Hudson fue VIRTUAL BOMBER MAN, donde el juego se desarrolla en escenas con personajes de 3/4, lo que vimos se parecia a la versión de Super Bomber Man 3 para SNES, pero obviamente trataron de aprovechar las cualidades del Virtual Boy, recuerden que estan solo un prototipo incompleto, las gráficas son muy buenas sobre todo en los display, donde algunas imágenes parecen rendereadas.

Another title presented by Hudson was Virtual Bomber Man. Si tú nunca has visto un estereograma te recomendamos ver la revista a 50 cm. más o menos para que sea más fácil (ya que tengas práctica te puedes acercar un poco más), el área donde estés tiene que estar muy bien iluminada, evita ver los estereogramas por períodos prolongados.

The photos on the right are stereoscopic screen-shots from the Virtual Bomber Man game presentation. If you’ve never seen a stereogram, we recommend viewing the magazine from about 50 cm away to make it easier (once you have practice you can get a little closer). Hmm, no solutions can be found on the net, looks like I either have to fix this myself or update to the latest Xoops Core, which might be tricky due to the massive number of hacks I’ve done.

Our host updated to PHP5 that night and that messed up some database tables, so I had to close the site until those were fixed. Nothing should have been lost, but that was probably the issue for the strangeness. Well, I hope it was and not some problems with PHP5. Let me know if this happens again!

About homebrews: also don’t forget that most of the very old ones, like Virtual Pong, don’t run on hardware at all, so you could let those out.

The official compiler does not generate usable VB binaries, but ISX files, which is the ROM with additional debug information. There are ISX converters for the Game Boy for example, even a homebrew one called abISX, so it should be possible to convert such an ISX file to a playable VB binary. So we’d either have to find official tools to do this task (if any exist) or try for ourselves. The discs come with the two sample programs, if anyone wants to give it a try. The other possibility would be using a VUE-Debugger. As far as I understand, it is possible to compile source directly into a useable ROM using the Debugger, but I am missing the official SCSI interface card, so I am not able to do it. Unfortunately, the card seems to be nearly impossible to find, and any other SCSI card does not seem to work, I tried a few.

Yeah, all screenshots and box images in this article are from PVB. At least a mention would have been nice… Well, I think in return I will just use their VB artwork for something. 😀

It’s a bit disappointing that an official Nintendo mag seems to have to compile their info from the net. I mean who else is closer to the source for new info and images?

I didn’t find anything either, at least not with a Tile Viewer, but using Reality Boy’s debug functions (thanks again, Dan ;-)), I found even more interesting stuff in the BG memory on the settings screen (right after the title):

– 2 player graphics!
– “Special” mode? Might that be the 2 player mode?
– A 5 set game?
