I WOULD enter, just a question- is there any programming tools for Mac? Otherwise I can’t. 🙁

no there aren’t. 🙁 maybe it is possible to compile the latest gccvb and grit for graphics on a mac, i don’t know. but if you can somehow use a pc, that’d be better.

the cursors do not work in internet explorer as it seems, if you load the site in firefox, they will show up.

hello pau!

i have been to fuerteventura for the last 5 days, which is why i could not answer your email. please send me your address and i will send the flashboy asap!

thanks for helping out, daniel. 🙂

there will be new ones in some weeks. you’re high on the list and will get one of them.

WANNA HAVE! damn, we really need a drooling smiley.

two small bugs:
– if i select another program while vide is loading, it disappers
– under vista, transparency on the splash screen does not work, transparent color is black instead

it probably means a lot more work, but i think it would be great to have an all-in-one solution with vide 2.0. meaning source editor, graphics editors, sound editors and compiler and emulator integration combined in one environment. just like the current vide, but much more advanced.

it should be stand alone, and not require (possibly expensive?) external programs like visual studio.

so besides already mentioned things, this would mean that we need a much better integrated source editor.

if you have created bgmaps and such for a project, it’d be cool to be able to include them directly, without having to export the to a *.h file. i am not sure if it already is possible, since i did not use vide’s source editor, yet.

furthermore, we should think about a better concept for handling charset, since it is currently not possible to use chars from different charsets for one bgmap. maybe we could have containers in which 4 charsets can be conbined for a virtual char ram? probably someone can come up with a better idea to handle that.

if we stretch the container idea a bit further, we could also have containers of other kinds. like if you have a 3d bgmap, which consists of two sepereate maps, one for the left, one for the right eye, those could be put in a container, which could also have a red/blue 3d preview option.

that’s what i can think of now, but i will mess around with vide today, so probably more will come to my mind then. 😉

EDIT:

vide should not open all charsets, bgmaps etc on startup, this can lead to crashs with bigger project files. 😉

include *.h file option.

that’s some good points, thanks!

i hope you still plan to enter the competition, runnerpack? we’ll have an open vote and everything is possible, as you said yourself! and most important, many entries would be a great thing for the vb community. 🙂

Add some sound tones to Simon, that’d make a good entry.

sorry, against the rules. 😉

Wow ! the black paint job came out really nice

thanks! it was a spray job actually. 😉

actually, it’d be possible to build cartridges using richard’s flashboy pcb design, but obviously without the usb connector and with a rom instead of a flash chip. this would reduce the costs for parts and work compared to the flashboy, so a complete game might costs around 40 eur.

since many people seem interested, i might consider a limited release, maybe 30 carts, but for now i am working at full capacity on the flashboy project, dev compo, my band’s new album, and university.

if this ever becomes reality, i would find i cool to first update blox for this, make a sequel, or a new game, though.

we’ll see…

Chris-party! another one here. 😉

welcome!

you’re a wizard! 🙂

will you implement vga output? then first mentioned problem would disappear, those would work everywhere in the world, and probably the picture is even better?

good news: i spent $600 on donor games and will have enough for a fourth and even fifth batch of flashboys. 🙂

bad news: due to my high costs (also going to buy usb cables for another ~€100), the flashboy will become a bit more expensive, probably €80.

The future IS 3D 😛 .

😀

I think it could be good for the people who supplies a card to get preference 🙂

yes, people got and still get that in return.
that’s for multiple games, though, it does not make much sense to send single games due to shipping costs.

Well I have a spare Mario Tennis (or 2)

i am not sure how much it’d be for shipping, but i don’t think it’s profitable to send only two carts.

What if for the 5th batch people had to supply a Baseball cart or whatever cart. Then that person would be guaranteed a Flash boy.

that’ll only be a solution if i can’t get any more carts, because it would be more expensive for you guys (extra costs for donor games plus shipping them to me) and more work. also i like to do batch work, like cutting all cases on a single evening, instead of always getting out the equipment for a single cart. 😉
