I think you’ll enjoy reading through this – congrats on the find.

Thrift stores should really do a quick google on the things they pick up – they always miss little grails like this.

Oh man you just got me thinking – Imagine a VS style cabinet that was set up for 2 player Hyper Fighting…

That link cable couldn’t come soon enough!

How does everyone else feel about the listing?

To be honest with a little boy on the way I’m also downsizing some of my collection, and if somebody offered me that I’d really have to think about it. Not that I have it listed or anything, just saying.

Add into the mix that I am a serious Street Fighter collector, I have some sealed Japanese soundtrack collector boxes that are very, very rare, as well as arcade hardware, sales brochures and all sorts of other things. So I love my copy for both SF factor and of course VB factor.

Street Fighter 2 is my favourite game of all time, I play it often.

Looks incredible! Can’t wait to see more!

Yeah, no way are these going to go back on sale for $80, sorry but I’d be surprised if they weren’t double that originally, a lot of work went into squeezing the game onto a VB PCB.

In terms of playing the game, there’s always the Flashboy demo, which gives a great playable impression of the game. And the rest is of course, SF2 as you’d expect it with some awesome enhancements.

I think with the attention this now has, Capcom would have to follow it up if a re-run ever went public, especially with SFV now in production they have to actively protect their IP.

I wonder how much hyper fighting would go for in the end. Its allready at 410 USD with 9 days to go 😐

How does the forum feel about this? I am surprised to see them being sold.

Also this:

Thank you both very, VERY much for doing this work.

I actually find the game quite therapeutic but could never really understand what was going on, so will look forward to giving this some play time!

Thanks again you guys, awesome effort for the VB community!

I would just add that legally, Capcom have to fight this.

Nintendo may not care about Bound High so much (and are generally lenient with fan efforts) but Capcom are a different group, and are still making Street Fighter games and selling them now.

Legally speaking they have to be protective of it, otherwise copyright law dictates they don’t own the copyright. Bonkers, but the law.

~ and you just bumped it to the top again 😀

But yeah, the VB is a very niche product these days – but while the forum may seem quiet, the amount of work, research and discussion on other parts of the site is very large.

Perhaps most topics have already been talked about in such detail already.

Here are some I have always wanted – games where the Red & Black charm works appropriately:

– a Makaimura game (could be Ghouls n Ghosts or gargoyle’s Quest / Demon’s Crest)

– a Megaman/Rockman game

– a Castlevania (classic 16-bit style, no RPG baggage)

– a sprite-based FPS ~ish Terminator game (from T800 perspective)

– a wireframe / polygonal F Zero (some great homebrew exists!)

– a sprite-based OutRun (some great homebrew exists!)

– a Wario Ware game (fill it with NES and GB style gameplay)

– a top-down Sweet Home style horror-themed dungeon crawler

– Street Fighter 2 3D (it happened!)

– a classic 2D Metroid a la Zero Mission

I think that’s about it for all my ideas, I wrote them down somewhere ages ago, there may have been more.

Looks nice, I’d love to have one, but I personally find even half that BIN an insane price when TV out kits are already possible.

I meant to say – that other Intelligent Systems 3D or multiscreen capture kits indeed have that option for side by side screens, with various dipswitch settings and accompanying PC software, so I’d like to think that this does also.

I hate these skanky magnets, they completely spam up all the listings and I generally have to search
“______ -magnet -shirt -mug” and things like that to get around them, there are magnets for everything…

Nice to see that Mario Virtual Boy animatic for the first time! Looks like these that were produced for JP stores:

That wouldn’t be considered new and unused – if the serial numbers don’t match it means someone put a Like New box with a Like New Gameboy.

Some people want things sealed, which the US Gameboys were originally (JP were not), so while it should surely be worth the price you paid, I don’t think you’ll get $300 for it sadly.

I wouldn’t recommend resealing it – they’re easy to spot and it’ll lead to distrust and refunds.

Has there been any update on the likelihood of link cables becoming available? I’m very eager to order a couple soon as I can!

I sent him a note about other gaming systems, but yeah I think some prices are approaching double what they should be – especially for GumTree (basically CraigsList and all it’s risks).

I also prefer it – but I collect Japanese versions over the American versions, I find them much more interesting and original to be honest.

Where might I find this to purchase?

Right there in the first post buddy 🙂

Here’s the link:

– One small tidbit worth mentioning that I didn’t see called out so far – the game is totally playable, in fact i think it’s already mostly in English bar the title screen. I assume this boxed repro is using this translation:

Very nice example. I guess the big question people are essentially probing at is – are you intending to sell above face value?

Bah, don’t believe such nonsense! 😛
