yes, that is correct. i found the tables in space pinball to be much more enjoyable. from what i recall some sound efx are missing and the high score feature does not work. i haven’t played it for awhile so i will leave the deep comparisons to someone else from this community. =)
this looks like a great package. any plans to release the manual as a pdf for those who already picked up the cart from minestorm?
I’m not fully understanding what you are trying to do. You want to output Doom or Quake from your PC to be displayed on the VB? How are you going to accomplish that when the VB doesn’t use LCD displays?
That cover at is great. It would be nice to have a full set of high quality art that could be used for case projects.

I am planning to write a review of the game and would love some high-quality photos of the front and back of the reproduction cart. If a box and manual are released, then images of those as well.

This entire series of events, from purchase to release, is the type of story that eventually gets printed in a history of video games book. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the participants and this site mentioned in some publication 10 years from now.
The community can say thanks all they want but we can never thank you enough for what you did. Someone once described the Virtual Boy as the “little system that could” and to this day I continue to believe that. This release helps us to see just 1 more example of what might have come from generation-2 software, making this an exceptional treat for all.
For the VB they added that bit at the end about gamers getting sick. I’ve still yet to talk with anyone who got headaches or nausea from playing the VB.
the JP version often goes for more money on US ebay. you can sometimes snag the US version, with a known eye glitch issue, for around $40 (complete, without the box). every VB will eventually suffer from the glitch issue, as the glue for the display ribbon cable will eventually come unstuck. if you feel comfortable doing a repair on it, then get one that is listed as having the issues with the screen (which are most always this glitch), or buy one that says its working perfectly and spend a bit more. you will probably be able to game with a good one for years before it needs repair.
with that said, the JP version is pretty much the same as the US, unless you get one of the really rare units in the mosaic box, you are just buying the same hardware either way. i do believe that the voltage on the plug is different, so you’ll need a JP tap to power the JP unit, unless you game with batteries all the time.
i’m not sure if there are any other significant differences. i’ll let the VB collectors comment. =)

Who owns the rights to the game? Isn’t the company defunct? With that said, was the code ever copyrighted? Who would be on the other end of those calls and emails? There is no company to claim ownership, right? I think it is time to trace the provenance and attempt to find who might hold the copyright. It would be a shame to see this reproduction die.

If the price they start it at is what they feel its worth, I can’t see a problem with it. Saying it is something it is not in the hopes of making it worth more is one thing, but listing it at $100 because that is what they want to part with it for is not wrong at all.
We all know you can currently get some of these reproduction carts much cheaper, but not everyone knows that. I’ve already talked to a lot of people that would love a Bound High! cart and they are willing to pay up to $250 for the set. I think we are losing site of the buyers perspective in some instances. Some gamers are more than happy to pay what it costs to get what they want. Flagging every auction that offends 1-5 users of this site (or those involved with the reproduction process) takes away the chance for others, who have no knowledge of the reproduction carts, to get something they truly want.
Flagging reproduction carts because the description is misleading or dishonest is one thing, but doing so because you feel like you are the Virtual Boy reproduction cart moral police is wrong.
