If this has been already stated I apologize. But We know it came from Intelligent systems. why doesn’t someone find a game that came out for the SNES at the time of the making of Dragon Hopper then someone play it on an EMU so you could pause the game and as DogP stated play the game to the end and write down the names. I think that this would be the best plan of action.:VB:

Enjoyed the Video:)
I’m so glad that the community has someone we can trust to fix our displays.:):vb:

This is such sad news. My heart goes out to his friends and family. I wish him the best for the life there after or at least what he believed in.

Mine is stored in an old time projector case. It is perfect fit and can house 2 head units and even has a space built in for the stand.:vb:

I was excited about the VB from Nintendo Power and couldn’t wait to buy one. So I purchased it on “Pass and review” weekend at the Navy exchange. I only bought Red Alarm at the time. I still remember my Dads question “Is it 3d?” and my reply “surprisingly… yes”. We (You and I)are the few the proud who actually read the instructions instead of dismissing the Virtual Boy. Yes I was part of the blockbuster clearance event and no I have nothing to show for it. Nor did I sell the VB. I owned 3 at the time and I gave 2 of them away the first I kept for myself along w the performance bag and 9 games thanks to blockbuster. I then got out of the Navy and went to school where my VB got stolen leaving me w/ nothing. But all is not lost. One of the VB’s that I gave away the person didn’t want to get games from Ebay so she asked me if I wanted it back….DID I! Yeah baby!

Years went by and it was around 2003 where I Saw the site and determined to make my own color VB I asked David Tucker and Alberto Covarrubias if they could help me and they said no it really couldn’t be done without way too much reconstructing. More years later finally accepting the VB for what it is and not trying to make it something it’s not I joined PVB and have been an active member ever since.

Well that’s my story and I’m stickin to it.:vb:

Always quality coming from you VectrexRoli2! Every time I enjoy the information w/ the great humor, it’s terrific!:-)

Contact this guy about the lost proto’s asap!

thank you for explaining that further I’m sorry I’m not a programmer just an artist, so I don’t always see direct application. I guess if you already have your work in 3 colors and alpha you don’t need to convert it in that case I’m sure it’s great to use it as a testing tool. To test animations.

I for one am really glad that this video is waaaaaaaaaaay to elaborate for an April fools joke!
I can see how this can be an awesome tool for “borrowing sprites” But is it useful for the original artist that wants to create their own work. If so how? At any rate it’s great to know that we finally have a tool to make it easy to port over graphics for our own Metroid, Zelda and CastleVania.:vb:

Are you guys serious? Look at the calendar.

If this isn’t an April fools joke it looks like the king and holy grail of VB playing as been dethroned. Ie Dragon Hopper for StarfoxVX.

That’s not entirely true. I have a stand with a broken clip I got with a 2nd-hand VB, and I know of other people with the same problem.

I agree w/ RunnerPack I own a VB w/ a broken clip I think it happened w/ some one (not me)not showing any respect for the VB would just put the thing on and let it snap. Too much of that and it snapped alright-right off!:p I have another vb in tip top condition that you cannot put the stand on…Unless you grab the thing pushing your thumb on the nose piece bellow the eyes then suddenly it will clip. Unbelievable, how it works I’ll never know but it just happens to work that way.

here was an article i recall reading that mentioned how nintendo purposely limited which software devs were allowed to receive vb development units. effectively attempting to control the quality of the software, something which came back to bite them in the arse. less devs, less software, fewer sales, etc.

only, i can’t seem to find which article this was. does anyone else recall reading it? i do believe it was one hosted here on planetvb.

Retro Gamer issue 64 page 59

“Third party support which is usually so muscular w/ Nintendo hardware was surprisingly light on the ground. And it so transpired w/ Yamauchi’s orders. In a somewhat misguided attempt that the Virtual Boy only got the very best of standard software. He only sure that only a few select companies were allowed to see the technology and permitted to sign up for development. It was a bizarre method of quality control that ultimately backfired. As the system struggled to gain any kind of third party support after it’s catastrophic week sales. In fact only 22 games were ever released in it’s entire life span.”

Anyway, what’s new? Any big things I’ve missed in the past few months?

Hi Matt Welcome back.:-)probably the biggest thing you missed was the rom competition. If I were you Id get your flashboy to load’n :vb:;-)

Oh and BTW you workin on any cool T’s. This time hopefully larger sizes I hope.;-)

Keep those great videos coming! After that last one I had to watch the ol Vectrex 3d Imager one.

I appreciate all of your reviews but i refuse to watch this one entirely because I haven’t beaten the game yet. But please continue to do your reviews they are much appreciated.

The use of the filled polygons was never used in any official Virtual Boy game and was done using the Yeti 3D engine.

Nice review MegaSilverX1,:vb: however you are wrong on one point. The VB did have filled polygons…

in 3d Tetris.

The end result that I’m trying to create is a program similar to sfxr ( http://www.drpetter.se/project_sfxr.html ) for VB. The ability to quickly generate a “jump” sound that you like, then copy/paste it into code would be EXTREMELY useful IMO.

Hats off to both of you, DogP I agree w/ you about the usefulness of this project and would love to see an sfxr for VB :vb: I think that this would be invaluable and I can’t wait to see your progress.
