I really like this! Great job Dan, this is a great idea.

Welcome, Falkor!

The Virtual Boy is a fun system to collect for. Once you realize it came out before the Gameboy Pocket you can start to see that it was actually a pretty good system for the time. Compared to the GB, it has a powerful chipset, better sound, and much crisper screens with no ghosting.

I’m sure you’ll have fun with it.

camping right now in some lake in the middle of nowhere, but when i get back to civilization i’m definitely checking this out

You can get semi decent results with a DSLR, but it’s impossible to get the entire picture in focus. I’m pretty happy with these video capture results it provided though.

Smaller lenses can fit the entire screen into the focus area, so some cell phone cameras can work well. It’s definitely not easy to get a decent shot though.

Welcome to PVB!

Thanks! This is my first time making a game with any kind of 3D depth, I think it turned out okay too! The real praise goes to Nyrator if you enjoy the graphics, since he did almost everything you see.

I’ll be sure to post an update when I’ve fixed the framerate issue!

Well with the pair of you together it looks like you’ve churned out a very nice little game.

Definitely looking forward to any update builds 🙂

It doesn’t matter what he smashes, the whole concept is ridiculous.

This sorta thing is lowest common denominator entertainment. I put it in the same category as say..ohh..the Kardashiens or something. Are you learning anything? No, it’s just something to aimlessly look at as you sit on your ass wasting your day away.

Seeing as how popular this sorta shit is there’s a LOT of people on this planet that need something better to do…

Well that’s embarrassing, I was using the padder wrong.

Reference for anyone else:
hold control while dragging the file onto the padder and choose padding option 3. (and default size option)

Yup, definitely works on real hardware. I see what you mean about the frame rate, hope it turns out to be what you guys figure.

Otherwise, this game looks great on hardware. Is this your first 3D game? You’ve done a great job making lots of use of it!
Definitely can’t wait to try this again once it gets sped up 🙂

No worries at all.

Shoot me a PM if you want help with testing on hardware.

That’s flattering to hear! I hope you enjoy it! Let me know if you run into any problems on real hardware. I initialize the VB fairly rigorously so it should work. Mednafen caught a lot of my early mistakes. I don’t actually own a VB (yet?) so I wasn’t able to test it myself.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get it to run on real hardware using the Flashboy cartridge. None of the padding options work. I want to try flashing it to a flashable cart but I gotta get my printer cable for my cart flasher back first.

Still very cool that you decided to make a more or less VB compatible game, it’s always fun to try out new stuff on this little oddity 🙂

Because smashing things to get Youtube views is fucking stupid.

Very cool! Will be trying this on my VB for sure

That’s a good question, I see now that just going to his website doesn’t actually show any of the build links, they seem to just be throughout that thread.

It’s from this thread where he posted builds along the entire development process.

I don’t know if it’s the exact same rom as what was put on the cart, but it should be pretty darn close.

I’m confused…isn’t this freely available on the developers website?

Aww, that sounds like no fun. Just take care of yourself Dan, health comes first. Hope it’s nothing and it goes away soon.

That looks excellent Ben! I think I see the white thing you’re talking about. Looks not too bad to fix if someone were to want to print it, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Looks like everyone had fun!

Looks like an incomplete kiosk they’ve used to hang random posters on

Lol, the dialogue in the game is awesome. I was wondering why they were talking so much, it’s all the little quips and story pieces.

I also like how the “No” in the character naming section is “Dame!”. It’s not a very polite way of saying it, lol.
