Is there any part of the game that’s especially gawk-worthy?

No. Its about selling something to people you want support from. It´s only natural that they want and should receive a little more info. Make a short interview, a making-of, drawings, the process of making it, etcblabla…be creative – thats the marketing part of it.

Make a sensation of it (because it is one) – how many NEW games for dead consoles can be bought today?
That´s definitely a USP if you ask me…

just my 2cents.

Definitely Golf, not the only one, but the one I think of often besides of Red Alarm.

Funny thing is, I would have never played it on the PC or any other console 🙂

Are you talking about the “sealed” ones?

There was somebody from Mexico on ebay some time ago, who had them for months on sale…

I have some contact in the gaming journalism biz, so I’ll reach out in that avenue. Who knows a good way to set up a fund raiser?

Try crowdfunding platforms…may attract other VB users as well, since not every fanboy is registered here. I think somebody else here posted on the forum a link to a 3D-console project. Not sure if it was on Startnext, maybe some other platform. Give it a shot, but don´t forget to include some material – people like to see what they get before they donate… 😉

I’ve had problems with dead SNES batteries, but never any leakage. I ended up buying a pile of sockets and CR2032 batteries so that I can make the SNES batteries replaceable… y’know, in 20 more years, when they’re dead again, haha.

I have never opened a VB cart, I only recall the pics on the site here…is there a place for sockets on each one of them (even those without savegame feature)?

Thx for the info!

How about the caps inside, do thay leak? Was a problem back in 1991 with Gamegear, as they used cheapo ones.

Made the screen faint or the sound stop working, only a complete replacement of all caps solved the problem (did that myself on the one I have). Is that an issue with Nintendo too?

Put me down for a copy too (Remastered Version only), can´t wait to hold it in my hands!

As far as I know, none of my video games, especially any of my VB games, have had a backup battery leak. I don’t think it should happen at all, carts are made to last.

Why do you ask, have you experienced a problem?

I didn´t experience problems at all…I am just interested what the lifespan is. And I don´t believe that the batteries will last forever…if they leak, they destroy the chip and the board (thru corrosion, caused by the acids).

It know it happens to normal batteries (I have a collection of handhelds with corroded contacts due to leakage), and I know there is a Batch of Amiga System boards with a backup battery, which is known to leak and kill the circuitry…

So I thought it might happen to VB carts too one day…

The point of this was really just to complain about Max Payne 3…

No worries…I was referring to the dizzyness…which was reported back then on the VB.

Sorry, that´s certainly not true. My girlfriend experienced dizzyness from playing VB every single time, that´s why she never plays it, although she likes the games.

There is some certain connection between people having acrophobia and/or issues with hearing disorder and dizziness reported from 3D content. It is also an issue with scuba diving e.g. – which you be checked before you take courses (medical examination is mandatory in my country).

Equilibrium sense and hearing are connected, thats why you will find a notice on dizzyness with all 3D-related content, as it can be already a medical issue for some people.

I have watched the progress of this and I must say that I am very happy with the work you did so far on the game. I like the characters and sprites, the idea behind it.

If you should decide to make it a “real” VB game (cart, box, etc.) please put me on the list! I definitely want a hard copy of that thing.

Keep up the good work!

Geez! I can’t believe how much the seller is asking for a FlashBoy Plus, especially whenever anyone can order a brand new one straight from Richard for less than half that price! What is the seller trying to do, take advantage of people who are unaware of Planet Virtual Boy?

I already contacted him and made him aware of what the item REALLY is worth. I also mentioned that I would tell people in the community about his silly pricing. My first bid was 50$ and my second 51$. That´s the highest I will bid, and I recommend to anybody doing the same, to make him aware that it is out reason. For the sake of this unique system, the common sense of this community, its members (that produce such carts, boxes, games, etc.) and general affordability for people wanting to enter this scene.

I am strongly against forcing up prices; prices already went up for some systems 400% in only 5 years…we´ve got to stop this now, otherwise it will affect everyone here someday too.

My 2 cents.

I am just curios…8bitmatt received his copy the other day, and he was #56 on the list, while I am #50 and I still have no copy?

I definitely would want a boxed copy. Shall we make a list, of who is interested?

Thanks everybody for the help, this seemed to be the issue. Now on to the scarier part.

Don´t worry…its not that complicated. Try to leave the 3D component in the VB. I always unscrew the 2 displays leaving the whole unit in it. If you take out both rubber parts holding the speakers on the side, then you can easily access the screens.

Be sure to only unscrew the display itself, don´t loosen the big screws above and below the display itself.

I also found this useful by myself, the photographs are detailed and of high quality. You can clearly see the components:

Personally I favor the chance to have a modified VB to play it on a TV. Especially, when i have the chance to OC it too for some games.

I don´t understand the resistance of some members here on the forum to accomplish such things. Fans of other consoles do all sorts of stuff with GG, Lynx, whathaveya. It just makes me sad….

Try this one here:

I have bought the same. Very robust and long enough to reach to the deepest screw. Can´t complain on the quality, worth buying it.

Can we find out the buyer´s email address, so that we talk him into retreating from the purchase? I think this might be the best solution. Plus clearifying the real “value” of the game…

Looks like i am experiencing the same now. Happened today when I installed my newly repaired screens. Shows up on the left eye, starting from the far right reaching to the middle (fading off after 2/5 of the screen lenghth).

I always kept it clean and treated it well. It cant be a scratch…what else could that be, except for dust?
