bought this one off of Ebay. Only the main unit, no PSU, stand, or controller. assume Not working. Will be gutting and selling the insides. Using the main shell for different VR set up. I know this is sacrilegious but I wanted it to be on record that this one would be forever changed! (USA TX Denton)
Hi sk8man101,
Can you double-check the serial number again and/or provide a picture of it? The serial number you provided appears to be erroneous.

Mosaic…a bit faded on the virtual boy on the box..BUT…
also comes with the mosaic tap. Good deal with both..just sayin.

I messaged the seller and found out that the Mosaic Tap is missing the instructions, so for anyone going for completeness, stay away.

You really think so? When I compare it with the situation in the Vectrex community it seems the group of people enjoying the Virtual Boy is extremly small…
🙂That is because when it comes to collecting for the Virtual Boy, the biggest, most serious uber-collectors largely keep themselves hidden from the Virtual Boy community. There are many “unknowns” who, no doubt, will laugh at the estimated end price that Mawa provided. I’m saying this because this is very serious. We don’t have to worry about battling this out with each other. We have to compensate for the secretive uber-collectors, some of whom will now finally reveal the kind of values that they place on the rarest of Virtual Boy items, since this transaction won’t be occuring privately, which is usually how they would like to keep it. The only value that won’t be revealed, of course, is the max value of the highest bidder. The biggest of the uber-collectors will all be using the snipe bidding option on this auction, no doubt, so we won’t know their values until it is too late.
This is basically a once in a lifetime opportunity. If this auction falls into the hands of one of the secretive uber-collectors, we will never know what will come of these items and never learn anything more about them. I’m with Lester Knight and Indiana Jones on this one: “Those belong in a museum!” But unfortunately, that’s not going to happen.

So I had no luck finding the option through buyee at all. One question I had was what the total weight would be so I can get an idea of shipping fees. Can someone here who has a debugger give me an idea on the weight?
I really don’t mean this in a harsh way, but if you have to worry about the cost of shipping, you probably don’t have to worry about winning the auction. There is no telling how high this sucker is going to go for, but it will probably go much higher than most would ever imagine, so one basically has to throw more than everything one has at it to stand a chance. It is definitely a “go big or go home” situation.

I’ve been pretty quiet lately but it’s only because I’ve been crazy with foster kittens and fixing display issues on my current VB. I scored 2 beaten up systems for parts/repair and one is gonna go to fixing my original and the other is gonna be converted into a Virtual Girl. Thanks to some member’s here that created the VB font and some members that gave the inspiration, it looks like it might just happen. I have a spare controller that I want to add the logo to. Here’s a quick concept:
That looks sweet!
If it becomes a reality, you will have to share some high quality pics of the finished product with us. 🙂

Does anyone who is familiar with yahoo auctions know how to contact the seller? Ive used buyee’s and google’s page translations and cant find that option anywhere. Thanks.
I’m pretty sure that for people who use proxy services to bid on Yahoo Auctions Japan, most proxy services offer their bidders the service of contacting the seller to have any questions answered. Thus, one wouldn’t even have to know any Japanese at all, and the proxy service could communicate in fluent Japanese with the seller. One should be able to look at one’s proxy account and find the means to ask one’s proxy service to relay any desired questions to the seller.
But in the case of one who does not use a proxy service, I have no idea.

The first bid has been placed. I could probably go into 7 figures for this one, so unless you plan to match that, please stay away ;P
All that I want is the official link cable. I imagine you will probably appreciate it as much as me, but just in case you don’t care too much about having an official link cable, I will say that if you win the auction and are willing to part with the link cable, I will buy it from you at a high price. 🙂
I’m all about officialness.

Not even does the VUE Debugger come with a PC Interface card, it also includes a link cable!
Is this the first-known, official link cable ever to have surfaced at an auction?
Baptist wrote:
you think 300 is to much then? I would have liked the box to have looked better.
If you are willing to pay $300.00 for a complete-in-box system, then I say definitely wait for an auction that contains a system box in much better condition. Those should appear rather frequently.
The nice thing about this auction, though, is that it contains the For Display Only box of Mario’s Tennis. Near mint “complete in box” copies of Mario’s Tennis sell for around $150.00 at times. Once again, though, the condition of the Mario’s Tennis box here doesn’t look the best.

If you look at the second photo at the very bottom, you can definitely see バー, and it looks like the next character that is being cut off is チ. Thus, this could be part of “Virtual Boy,” in which case the book would actually contain some amount of Virtual Boy coverage, and the auction’s description isn’t just the seller’s attempt to draw VB fans to the auction.Good eye, I didn’t even notice that.
I didn’t think the seller was pulling one on us, I just didn’t see anything about the virtual boy on the front and back covers. I would expect the book to contain stuff about the Virtual Boy, it’s just not very obvious from the choice of where they put it. Since the book is from 1997, maybe they didn’t want it so prominent since it was pretty soon after the VB’s failure in the market.
To clarify, that was my first impression when I saw the auction. The seller is certainly smart enough to know that Virtual Boy fans are more likely to go for a Gunpei Yokoi book than Game Boy fans, as there seem to be more Virtual Boy fans who actually know the name of the creator of the Virtual Boy, as opposed to Game Boy fans who usually just attribute the Game Boy to Nintendo in general.
I actually wouldn’t be surprised at all if a Japanese book about Gunpei Yokoi made in 1997 would completely avoid any mention of the Virtual Boy, as it seems that Japan’s reception of the Virtual Boy was much worse than that of North America’s. Nevertheless, it is good to see evidence that this book actually should contain Virtual Boy info, though the amount is probably very little.
If anyone here happens to bid on and win that auction, please submit the scans of Virtual Boy-related pages to this site. If nobody else translates the interesting segments that might be contained therein, it could be another project for me that I will eventually get to. (Yep, I still have plans to translate Virtual Fishing at some point).

I could be wrong since I’m no Japanese expert by any means. I think Virtual Boy is usually written in katakana since the origin of the words are English. I don’t see baachurubooi, but I do see “geemubooi”(gameboy), and “ten birion” (ten billion?). I don’t see it mentioned in the smaller writing either. But I do see game & watch mentioned on the back, so my guess it’s to do with what he’s created. That shouild mean the Virtual Boy is mentioned in there, maybe it just didn’t make the cover..

That’s so awesome, that you might make that long of a trip yourself for a Virtual Boy item! 🙂
I myself have thought that some time down the road, I might have to make a weekend trip to get one of the floor models, if the condition and price are right, and the distance isn’t too ridiculous.

Hello all, I am looking for a pair of displays, I don’t care if they are glitchy or don’t show anything at all as long as the cable is still in good shape (no obvious crease). I am willing to pay €20,- and if you are selling a head unit with glitchy displays under the same conditions, I am willing to pay €35,-I am looking for them so that I can offer a 100% guarantee on repairs again, so that more people can get good working VB’s for a long time coming.
I can help you out with that. PM sent.
