If anyone is interested I have 1 spare Flash Boy for sale! Complete and as new! PM me!

Personal research has proved fruitful!

Evening all, I received my iphone yesterday, and after doing the necessarry I installed the NES emulator. So far, so good. Full compatibility (apart from Castlevania 3, only managed to get that working through the HBC) and save states etc. Has anyone tried any other emulator from Cydia? Just wondering before some hard earned is spent. The d-pad and a/b button very happy with for NES, but unsure about SNES/GBA configs and compatibility.

Apologies for the ‘off-topic-ness’ (if such a phrase exists!)

Have you used the included ‘Padder’ application. If you havn’t:

Drag the Rom to the ‘Padder’ application icon and drop on top.

A new file will be created and will have the same name as the original Rom you wanted to play but ending with pad.vb

This will be the Rom you need to Flash.

Thanks!!

Yea, in response to Akumie, I have just tried one rom of Nester and no luck, but the 2nd rom worked just fine (nice graphics too!). Remember there is also Virtual Bowling if you are desparte for a bowling fix.

Including the size of the CD as being a negative point is being a bit pedantic I think, as once it is installed, thats it! And a bigger CD may not fit in the box correctly and have increased the cost even more!!! Yes, the Flash Boy is a lot more expensive that other systems (GBA/DS) flash cards/cartridges but to play Space Invaders, Virtual Bowling, Virtual Lab and SD Gundam would cost you far, far more!! And no, using an emulator doen’t count!

Crikey! Congratulations on a very fine collection indeed!

Agreed. I have only been visting this site since May this year and this was from the advice from the commercial mag Retro Gamer which branded it as the best Virtual Boy site on the web.Considering it is a site dedicated to a 14 year old “portable” console that was branded a “failure”, it is extemely well supported. I regulary read past posts and threads from way before I was a member and there are some very dedicated and talented people that support this site that I have learned from that still regulary post and are working on projects. If the site included what you kindly suggested, it would certainly lose its identity.

I bought mine off another user of this site. If you purchase one I think it will cost roughly 90 euros with 35 euros for full insurance and delivery to the US. That all works out at 175 US dollars with the convertor I used. How often the batches are released, I cant answer that one!

Game & Watch (various)
Gameboy
Gameboy Color (x2)
Gameboy Advance SP (x2)
Pokemon Mini
DS Lite

Virtual Boy
N64
Gamecube
Wii (Hard & Soft Modded)

The Flash Boy is a fantastic bit of kit manufactured by KR155E, the administrator of this site. It is a Virtual Boy Flash Cartridge similar to the likes that are popular on the GBA and DS systems, ie you can use it to develop or play homebrew (which you can also find on this site) and play back ups of your Virtual Boy games thus keeping your contacts preserved as you said earlier. I have recently bought one and cant recommend it enough, thanks vectrexer! Easy to use and just great!! KR155E is currently busy manufacturing batch 6. Get your name on his list, you will not be disappointed!!

Thanks for the correction, I was led to believe the US and Japanese NES/SNES and Famicom/Super Famicom had inter changeable PSU’s (something to do with standardization between old and new consoles that Nintendo wanted to achieve). Indeed the Japanese PSU I received today is for the Super Famicom and not the Famicom and works just fine.

Not a bad idea at all RunnerPack! OK i am going to throw my 10 pence in. Please correct me if i am wrong because there is a lot of people that use PVB, and have so much knowledge over myself, who has very little! This is not tried and tested yet as i havnt received my japan PSU. I will post the results.

MAINS SUPPLY TO VIRTUAL BOY FOR UK POWER SUPPLY

Controller tap required.
Fits into VB controller.
2 Types available – USA and Japan, universal attachment.

PSU lead.
*Correction could be required*
USA tap requires NES/SNES PSU lead.
Japan tap requires Famicom/Super Famicom lead.
(I am awaiting a Japanese PSU lead to try on the Japan Tap I have bought).

Plug adaptor.
They ain’t gonna fit!

Step down convertor.
Virtual Boy = BANG!

I am awaiting my last bits to try this all out. Will let you know how i get on.

Thanks for your reply! When my Jap PSU arrives then I can stop spending all my money on batteries.

Thanks for your quick reply, looking forward to your e-mail. I havnt got a scanner myself but i will pop to our local library tomorrow so the article can appear on your site. Quick question, where do i go on your site to upload it?

Hi, i purchased a Virtual boy off e-bay at the end of last year with five games. My wife was pregnant with my daughter at the time time and i had to sell a lot of wii games to cover the cost!I was reading Retro Gamer Issue 64, the feature about the Virtual Boy and read about your site and the Flash Cart you have built. It looks amazing and i would love the opportunity to buy one of these! I have just purchased a pokemon mini, so many more wii games are going to have to be sold! Damn issue 64!! If you could make this possible i would be greatly appreciated.
