Nice find! They could’ve shown some Dragon Hopper footage, though…

Got a cart today, too. Thanks for the nice surprise, Eric!

@Guy Perfect:

I am very annoyed by the permanent server errors, but the provider does not seem to be able to fix the issue… Looks like we will have to move to a new server this summer. I do have a vServer, but I am looking for a managed server that’s also a bit more powerful. Have to see what I can spend, a new server will be much more expensive.

@Ben:

Hard to say what’s going on. Maybe we can debug your problems? Could you start up the web console in Firefox with CTRL+Shift+K, reload PVB and see if there are any JavaScript errors?

Hey, Disk Tusk or someone ever make a Box for the Flashboy?

Sure: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4728&forum=7

Stuff like this happens quite often and in different forms, but usually I can manage to delete spam user accounts before they post any crap. Luckily spammers are not very smart with choosing email addresses and user names, so it’s easy to tell them apart from real accounts. 😉

In obvious cases like this, you don’t need to take action, just wait a little while. But in case of more sneaky spam, like PMs sent to you or spam URLs on user profiles, please shoot me a PM.

P.S. Thread moved to Feedback forum.

Can you double check? The serial doesn’t look right.

That’s awesome and very generous, what you’re doing for bigmak, Krisse.

Thanks! But I think it’s actually the other way round. What bigmak and a certain other person did for the community is simply amazing and we can hardly send enough thank yous back. 🙂

Well, I have searched the News Archive, all the Homebrew titles, all of HorvatM’s forum topics in which he posted, and I cannot figure out what any of the other simulators are, which you are referring to. Help, someone?

Have a look at Matej’s homepage. I found the link in the readme for this release. http://matejhorvat.si/en/software/index.htm

Oh, I thought thunder was referring to the speech sample on the title screen having a russian accent as well as Chuck Norris’ random appearances at the other side of the gun?

Anyway, a worthy addition to your long running series of Advanced Nonsense Simulators, Matej! 😉

Three eastereggs spotted, when including the filename. Can anyone spot more than three? I assume the date not being set to April 1st does not count as another (weird kind) one? 😉

P.S. Nice progress!

Do all of the 20-piece boxes that you know of look like the attached one?

If so, the only way that I could see 5 of these being packed into the 100-piece box is if 4 boxes were positioned upright, but then the 5th box would have to be positioned on its side. I guess it is possible that they could have done that, but I’ve never seen it done that way before.

Yes, they’re all this form factor. I don’t know what you mean by 4 upright and one on the side? I think all 5 would fit side-by-side if the side that your photo shows is facing upwards.

I am pretty sure that this is the first 100-piece box I have ever seen for any Virtual Boy game:

Cool find! This is the first time I see a 100-piece box as well. It seems to be incomplete, though. Judging from the space between game boxes I bet these boxes contained 5 of the smaller 20-piece boxes.

I updated our reviews database with issue numbers and links to the scanned reviews. I also corrected two minor errors with scores. Thanks again, Ben. 🙂

It seems that SD Gundam was the only not reviewed Virtual Boy game, as it is mentioned in issue 367 on the bottom of the first review page (http://www.planetvb.com/modules/articles/?s020160003). I think that games listed on the bottom of review pages were either never reviewed or reviewed in the next issue.

That will be interesting, Ben! Do you mean every single Japanese unreleased game listed here?

I hope the 1996 issues can be found as well, they should contain a lot more stuff like Dragon Hopper and Zero Racers. Maybe even an as-of-yet unheard-of game.

Mawa recently aqcuired issue 02/95 of Dengeki Magazine, which has some VB coverage. He’s going to scan it, so we’ll soon know a bit more. 🙂

That’s some very interesting thoughts, Ben. Your theory sounds very plausible, this should definitely be observed further. I want to add one thought: Identical Virtual Boy screenshots were often printed across many magazines from all over the world. Since it was impossible for any publication to capture good screenshots themselves without the necessary hardware, they were probably simply using screenshots that were released by Nintendo and distributed to publications for printing, in form of, e.g. dias. The screenshots found in Famitsu might also come directly from Nintendo of Japan. I guess if we found the same screenshots in other Japanese magazines released at the same time, this would proof that the images were not taken by Famitsu themselves.

Wow! This thread is brimfull of goodness! O__O

Oh, man, This is great! Thanks for the scans! There’s some interesting looking articles and a bunch of new screenshots in there. Looking forward to what the later issues from 1995 will show, there should be quite a few unreleased games!

A little request; can you also scan the contents of issue 323? It has a small tradeshow image: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/articles/?s020261002

This is great, thanks for the translation!

you can’t ‘reply’ to a post in the market place

That was an error. It should now fixed. 🙂
