It’s not too late is it? I just got my first Virtual Boy and I’d love to give back to the community, especially for a shot at getting another game to play. 🙂
It’s still just sitting in my display case waiting for a new home, So I believe it must still be on. 🙂

Good times, but don’t forget to put your AR cards on your sleeping cat. 😀

I’m no good at Street Fighter either haha, I’m starting in Easy Mode trying to work my way up.I’ve had the depth slider all the way up. Hasn’t given me any problems yet. The only time I cranked it down a bit was playing the AR Games. I should also mention that I tried Pilotwings on a display unit at the store, and I couldn’t handle the 3D if the slider was more than halfway up. Its REALLY nice being able to adjust the depth so freely.
Good times. I can enjoy the 3D settings with the slider at max, but find that the background is *sort of* out of focus when I view the up close characters (same as the VB, have to individually focus your eyes at the up close and at the distant object separately, where-as just about 60% up I can enjoy the 3d for both at the same time if that makes any sense.
I also wear glasses for distance-only, and I find that having them on noticeably hinders the 3D effect even though I can usually see up close while wearing them fine (same with VB, personal problem?).
This is my first hands on experience with an auto-stereoscopic display, and I must say I am pleased with the goods delivered.
3DS = Virtual Boy II
I still prefer the VB, because 3DS still doesn’t submerge & isolate you in a different world the same as say Red Alarm does with your face shoved into a dark mask. The viewing angles could be a little better, but if you don’t flail around a lot during gaming sessions, the 3DS display will deliver the cure for what ails you. 🙂

What games did you pick up, VBSAM? I have Street Fighter and Bust-A-Move.
Also, cool the 3DS at least works with WPA wireless security instead of just WEP like DS. 🙂
I picked up Street Fighter and Steel Diver.
Yeah, the WPA support is great! Also, the new friend code system is a major improvement.
You’re in luck, you’ll surely be able to rack up some wins playing me on SF4. I’ve been out of the Capcom Fighting loop since the SF Alpha 3 and Vampire Savior days! ^_^*
As for the WPA support, it’s not ideal but a comfortable happy medium. Before with the DS I’d have to change my router settings every time I played online because I wasn’t happy with WEP as my primary router setting in this day and age.
May I ask where you find to be the best comfortable 24/7 3D slider setting? [So far] I’ve found having the little bar in the center of the slider resting exactly above the glowing 3D logo to be the best for enjoying all the visuals while actively focusing on the foreground objects. I’m loving the depth slider, ala Golf/Red Alarm/3D Tetris depth options.

Off-topic, kinda.
Anybody with a Dreamcast NEEDS to get a VGA box. The jump from 480i to 480p is stunning. Can always use a VGA to Component converter if needed.
As for games, this console has many greats.
Cannon Spike
MvC2
Resident Evil:Code Veronica
Tech Romancer
Zombie Revenge
Under Defeat
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
and many many more!
Got news for all you one-eyed gamers out there, just buy a regular DS.
Nintendo shouldn’t take any stance, just maybe have a logo on the front that says “3D-Only”, or a warning on the front cover that says “3D effects required to play this game”.
No offense, but how about we remove buttons from it too and have only a D-pad, for all those one-handed gamers?
While I understand that people with serious handicaps should have the option to enjoy what every able bodied person can, a person that can only see with one eye shouldn’t be interested in buying anything 3D.
I don’t buy that this is to help handicapped people, this is just insurance for the big-N in case the 3D part of the 3DS is a sales flop.
Ahh, Tiger’s answer to the VB. I had both the Headset and the big clunky black & white R-Zone SuperScreen. While I sold that junk away to collectors on eBay awhile back, it is quite a nostalgic hunk of junk from the good ol’ days when VB was in it’s prime. 😛

No problem friend. Thanks for being the bigger man, since I set the unpleasant fire.

well, I kind of do have to agree with VirtualJockey, I’ve found myself buying more older Nintendo games than DS or Wii stuff…I actually used to not really like Reggie when I was 11! I thought he made Nintendo conferences much more boring than the rest of the people there (Iwata, Miyamoto, etc.) 😛
Before the economy ripped the food out of my stomach, I had more Wii games than PS3 or Xbox. So I really can’t say that Nintendo doesn’t get cool stuff these days. In the PSX/Saturn days, Nintendo did fail hard.
As for Reggie, he always sucked. However, not because he was boring, but because he refused to “capture the magic”. He’s not a gamer, couldn’t convince me at knife-point that he likes video games. Video games or the tobacco industry, he’d howl over a microphone for anything that would wet his bank account.
And my apologies to any toes I’ve stepped on in this thread.
I’m getting to be too much of a negative-nancy around here. :/

Its Reggie’s job to be a PR guy. He has nothing to do with game development or design, he’s just there to sell the product to the American audience. Reggie is their American puppet, and hes done a damn good job at what he does best, and thats pushing product.
He’s done a damn good job, and made Nintendo a lot of money doing it.
But anyone that remembers him SCOLDING the US media when he was a noob(pre-DS) should have little respect for him. Was among the lines of “We make games for mothers and their children, not gamers like you”. I mean, he had the freakin’ balls to say that to the gaming media?? The crowd echoed with Boos.
Seems like you blink your eyes and the world had changed and he became president of NOA. As far as Reggie was concerned, Games were about pure financial gains in untapped markets, not appealing to Nintendo’s real “gamer” fans was something he was proud to live with.
Great for Nintendo’s sales, bad for Nintendo’s real fans. Hell, if Reggie could sell Sham-Wows and Snuggies it would be good for Nintendo, but it’s sure as heck not going to add appeal to Nintendo fans.
(As I type this they are probably planning on a Donkey Kong edition snuggy)
I can’t put all the blame on Reggie Fils-Lame, Shigeru lied during his pre N64 release press conference (mostly focusing on Animal Crossing), and swore that Nintendo wouldn’t inhibit and censor developers. One would like to believe that Shigeru didn’t lie, and was just reading a line of bologna that a speech writer handed to him.
Am I a Nintendo fan? I’m a big enough fan that I’m quite upset at the progressive deterioration of a company I loved so much & so dearly as a child that I’ve had to personally witness decay in front of my own eyes.

once you mount the thing onto its two-legged stand any aspirations of a truly immersive experience are obviously out the window. Any notions of shame will follow as soon as you stick your face in the thing.
Sounds pretty bias. Anybody that put their chubby face in a VB in 1995 was amazed. It was real 3D, every kid was stoked that played it then.

I am a Nintendo fan.My apologies. How do you feel about the New Super Mario Bros. or DK Country Returns games?
It’s NOT Nintendo Hardware or 1st party software that rubs me wrong, it’s the change of power and the progressively deteriorating licensing decisions that altered my views in the Nintendo Timeline.
I personally have met Shigeru Miyamoto more than once, very nice man. I have also had the displeasure of meeting Reggie Fils-Aime when he was first staffed at Nintendo. He was such a PR fool I thought common sense would dictate that he was going to get fired within months. I’m not sure if the rotten Tomato is on my face or Nintendo’s.
Nintendo makes good stuff, I just wish that they would for once sit back and just ask themselves what they used to do right that seems amiss today.
It’s not what Nintendo manufactures or develops, it’s what they don’t develop and tend to refuse on average. Sony wouldn’t even have a leg to stand on today if Nintendo had welcomed developers with open arms in the N64 era.

I am a Nintendo fan. Well, a fan of the old good Nintendo.
Perhaps you’re right though, was just chiming in with my honest views.
Far from it, here. Nintendo has really gone down hill, big time. Snes / VB were the last good efforts IMO. GBA had some great sleeper stuff here and there, but even then it was only a mere reflection of good SNES style games.
I look forward to the 3DS, but the announced titles being launched in the USA for the next year appeal to me about as much as an unnecessary root canal. I can’t fully say Nintendo is to blame for that, but their history of driving away good developers with uncanny regulations surely still has relevance.

The Japanese tap doesn’t work with the US SNES AC adapter, but it will work with a US VB. It will need the JP AC adapter, or an AC adapter with the same plug. It’s the more standard type plug though, compared to the funny one the SNES used.DogP
DogP has it correct.
The USA adapter tap only works with the proprietary US SNES plug, and the JPN tap has a standard plug and will work with universal adapters.
Looks great!
I’ve been meaning to get around to something like this too.
I assume that you find playing VB much more comfortable and convenient now?
All over the place with this collection on eBay. Won a few things.
Some of his stuff went for well over value, some went under. Congrats to both the buyers and the seller, seems everyone will leave happy as a whole. 🙂

Sure would love for somebody to win these games. 😕
