It would be very cool to get confirmation on who and why, though I am a 100% sure it is a VB display board. It is indisputable if you have seen as many as I have haha.

Cool that you risked buying this, though it is clear that it is sun-faded and nothing else. The rest of the box proves that, though the VB looks great!
What did you pay for it in the end?

Since I am not really in the market for any VB items lately, I might be off on prices a bit, but $44,- seems really excessive to me. If you really want one, go ahead, but I wouldn’t spend this much on it, especially since there are way better and cheaper ways to power your VB.

I have seen/heard this myself as well in a few VB’s. I switched out the sound board and the problem moved alongside the sound board. So it is either a problem in the board or a badly calibrated potmeter and I am inclined to believe it is the latter (but have no real proof that is the case).

I once had the chance to acquire one and would have loved one for the collection, but seeing as I am not too much of a SF fan, I let it be for the people who really wanted it.
Should have gone for it knowing that a few people just bought it to make money….

Even though it might seem very unlikely to you, it sounds very much like the glitchy display problem to me. I always test Wario Land when repairing displays on that very screen you are describing as that can show you problems that other games do not.

Yes, still very worth it for that condition, price and completeness! Buying everything separately through eBay would cost you way more when considering time, shipping costs and the price of the items alone. It is a very good price!

That sounds like a faulty mainboard. What does it do when you have left it unpowered for about 12 hours?

I am a bit confused, in the first post you said you once saw the warning screen flash and ever since then it was just been 100% blank and dark and now you state that you can see the warning screen? Which of these two is it, can you still see the warning screen when you turn it on, or did you only once see this happen?

I once have had a system where the mainboard froze up. Every once in a while I could quickly press start to get past the first warning screen, but never could get any farther than that. There the mainboard was the defect. Though there every time the warning screen did show the first boot.
If you get nothing now, then it could be something different entirely.

It sounds like a bigger problem than the glitchy displays, if it were only the displays not giving you any feedback, sound should have started to come out of the speakers after pressing start a few times.
Hard to say where the problem lies, but a good place to start is to be a bit more specific about the adapter used (voltage, DC/AC) which adapter tap you have, did you measure the adpater?

Nope, not really, it might work for a while, but eventually it will glitch again with this way of trying to repair it. The oven/baking method always is a temporary solution.

It looks cleaner than just burning through the plastic, though the risk of misalignment and time needed to get the plastic separated from the traces seems a bit of moot if only for the sake of looking cleaner.

If you were to expose the copper traces, I would recommend using a fiberglass pen as DogP recommends in stead of this method to be honest.
