That is one of my favorite shows, though at one moment it pretty much got trashed by the writers…. But I love the story you just wrote and have thought about such a thing once or twice myself 😉

Please, don’t bake it, makes soldering afterwards harder and if you do it too long/too hot, you might irreparably damage it.

And yes, soldering the displays does take skill, a lot of people tried it and ruined their displays. I have seen a few of them and it isn’t a pretty sight.

Since you live in the USA, I would recommend you to PM Runnerpack and have him repair yours (do both, so you won’t get into any problems in the future) for a very fair price.

As Minestorm said, can you open it up yourself? I have some spare parts when needed, but if you are lucky you can just plug some stuff back in and you are done.

Did you know that the R.O.B. has two eyes behind his cyclops visor eye? I didn’t and thought I had a later revision, but you can easily remove the visor (which was intended to help with some situations to help R.O.B work better) which is taped on with double sided tape.

I stuck the visor on a piece of sticker sheet and stored it in the battery compartment. The R.O.B. looks way cooler with his eyes showing than the cyclops style, but tastes can differ 😉

I celebrated its birthday by repairing displays of two members here, one of them responded in this thread as well 😉
And I reunited the Virtual Boy with his big brother R.O.B. such a cool machine to look at (though pretty much useless to use as a gaming accessory haha).

I simply love this console, it is my favorite, so cool, works so well in 3D and has a few VERY good games. Though it could have done with just two more good games for it (Zelda and Mario)!

I’d be willing to pay CAD$30,- but only if there are no big imperfections as there are now with the air bubbles in it.

You are right L_E_T they never came sealed, let alone with tabs.

What Speedyink just said, just contact one of use depending on where you live.
Buying another head set will not be really helpful at all, unless someone permanently fixed those displays.

This problem will happen with every single VB at one time or another, it is a big design error unfortunately!

Well, then it can only be a problem in the VB controller. So, either buying another one of those or trying to troubleshoot it are your only two options.

Those look perfectly fine, though I never expecting d those contacts to show any problems, I was more interested in the inside of the battery pack contacts.

I agree with TerryJ and think it is your controller or battery pack since they don’t work on both VB’s.

Best way to clean contacts, if they are corroded, is to first use some very fine sanding paper and grind the rust off of the connectors. But it would be better to just check, or make a picture and post it here, of the connectors of the battery pack.

Yes, all of the Homebrew is playable on the Flashboy.

It sounds like a fair deal. It kind of depends on the value of the lamp though and that is a pretty difficult one to tell you since it is such a new item. Cheapest here in Europe goes for €20,- If that is the value, then you have a pretty good deal considering you get the complete package and in perfect condition.
