I remember I got my first VB for under $15 on ebay. That was almost 10 years ago though. Find a good deal yet?

I vote for Insecticide

Ummm, tell that to DanB. He handled polygonal graphics just fine in his Hunter homebrew.

Say whhaaaaaat? This does not make any sense to me.

Congrats on your recent purchase. Just wait until you have your first StreetPass encounter, it’s quite exciting. We’ll all have to exchange friend codes and get our Mario Kart 7 on later this year.

Whoooaa, VJ, slow down buddy, you’re getting a little ahead of yourself. They haven’t given up at all. Its just a readjustment in strategy.

Here’s a bit of the stuff Iwata has said given the current situation. Its evident that Nintendo is still fully standing behind the platform.

– by the end of the year, the Mii Plaza will be updated with new features
– various titles are in development that will take advantage of your Miis
– this software will see release this year and next
– the original price of the 3DS was a challenge for third parties
– third parties would say “Even if they are interested in this game, they can’t buy it,” or “We placed a big bet that the 3DS would sell without question, and are a bit disappointed.”
– now third parties are saying “We’re extremely relieved” and “This will definitely sell.”
– Iwata admitted that retailer revenue will go down, but there will be an overall benefit from more systems sold
– One retailer from America was so pleased that he said “It’s like Christmas has come early!”
– Nintendo is holding a “Price Protection” program where to refund retailers that bought the 3DS in bulk at its original price
– Most at Nintendo feel that they missed a price opportunity with the Cube, and they don’t want to miss that opportunity again with the 3DS
– the success of the Wii and DS have built up money for Nintendo so that they’re in a position to take bigger risks, like the 3DS price cut and Wii U in general
– Iwata says the current 3DS software lineup is more targeted to young males, and this has to do with the system not launching during the holiday rush
– 3DS has a low adoption rate among females
– Iwata says usage among females is higher than sales indicate, due to one person buying and a family using
– the trend for young males purchasing the 3DS is even greater overall
– Nintendo is still working on spreading the information on younger players and 3D, as some people are confused about what is safe and what isn’t
– this spreading of info will continue on through the year
– 3DS’ adoption rate among young users is low due to the system not being available during a holiday season
– the price also made a hurdle for families that had more than one kid
– Iwata believes the current sales situation and demographic will change greatly in 4 months
– there will be a focus on DLC for the 3DS and Wii U

All said, once the good games start flowing in, and the christmas season kicks in, it’ll be a much different story. The eShop continues to grow, and this price drop and realignment of stategy shows me that Nintendo knows it has to step it up. Its going to end up benefitting us all.

Man, DogP, why’d you have to go and do that? 😉 Here I was, perfectly content with NOT owning a 3DS, and then you had to go and tempt my addiction with those 2 amazing videos, of which I was previously unaware.

You should see the 3D videos from e3 that you could download onto the 3DS via the eShop for awhile. Look even better with that extra D.

I paid $250, twice. At launch and after my launch one got stolen, bought another. The 3DS is a perfectly capable device, but your asking people to carry it along with a phone. Its that shakey 3rd device territory (PC/laptop, phone, and device 3). In order to win someone there, you have to have quality at extreme value. I try not to compare the 3DS to smartphones, and instead think its direct competition is the tablet market, because tablets are also 3rd devices geared toward entertainment. No one entertains better than Nintendo (even the system settings menu on the 3DS has delightful music and entertains). The 3DS has the entire DS catalog of games you can play, new blockbuster exclusive content, 300+ DSiWare games for download, a Virtual Console that grows weekly, 3D Classics, and original 3D downloadable games that just hit the eShop starting with Let’s Gold 3D. That’s a pretty heavy-hitting line-up. With great value titles like Photo Dojo at only $1.99, its only a matter of time before the sales pick up, and this price cut will pique interest. Netflix, OoT 3D, Game & Watch Gallery and all of the other useful apps (3DS Sound, Camera, Nintendo Video) in my pocket. I don’t know why its such a hard sell for people.

Currently the idea is a on-rails platformer running game. To avoid obstacles the player would have to hop to platforms in either the foreground or the background. Like in Wario Land when you can jump to the background, but this will be a necessity to avoid objects.

This sounds extremely fun. Also, would be a game where the 3D is a distinguishing gameplay element.

If she was a boy, I’d immediately say Chalvo (or Wario…)

I vote for Chalvo, even tho its a girl.

Just furnished by bathroom with one of these bad boys.

JK, I wish.

Edit: Finally, after 8 years I’ve reached 100 posts! What better topic to achieve this than one about toilets?

Yeah, its my theory that NOA decided to use the horrid red/blue color scheme on all of the VB products so that there would be no confusion between them and the Game Boy games/accessories.

I always liked the name “Kitty.” It’s the one thing I could call any cat, and it would actually come running.

LOL, I have a cat named Kitty as well!

That’s a very nice looking cat you found at the garage sale. Take your time naming it, it deserves something epic.

Yeah I already rang NOA and they can’t brick it, even with a police report. They said the best they can do is transfer any downloaded content to a new system. It was stolen before the eShop launch so, needless to say, they weren’t much help. I know they have the capabilities to brick the systems as they’ve touted before to cut down on flash cart use but I guess, in my circumstance, the goon I chatted with didn’t have the power and couldn’t send my call to someone who did.

New friend code: 5026 4522 4414

I’m curious if you can see the time my old system was last online?

Well, I ordered the Club Nintendo Mario Hat Game-End. It holds and displays either 8 DS/3DS games, or 4 GB/VB/GBC/GBA games. I’m really glad I just ordered, as it is now SOLD OUT. 😀

SOLD OUT??! NoOoOoOo!! I’ve been saving my points for 2 of those and 2 of the wii remote holders and I now have enough points because I had to buy a second 3DS because one of my coworkers stole the one I bought at launch (excuse the run-on sentence, trying to make a long story short).

Anyways, I’m rich with club nintendo points (clinched platinum status awhile ago) but now it seems I won’t be able to get what I want. That repro g&w is tempting but i’d rather get a real zelda g&w from ebay. No need in wasting my points on that.

3000 points and nothing was worth it but those shelves. What a bummer…

Dude, you can post this in any board you want, cuz this sh*ts awesome.

A+ work

Mine as well. Followed by Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga

Megaman 2 deserves an honorable mention as my favorite if we were talking non-nintendo games.

I would wait for someone else to agree with this.

When looking at the back of the controller, the right contact is positive. I may be remembering incorrectly.

A couple German dudes liked the Virtual Boy, so they made a fansite. Exciting stuff.

1) Nintendo 3DS
2) Game Boy Advance SP
3) Super Nintendo
4) Virtual Boy
5) Nintendo 64
