Great to hear all this! Thanks for the update.
Very nice video!

Such a great brochure, I’ll love to get it 🙂 (and also find the VB cap)
To this day, not a single person is known to have that specific VB cap. There is speculation that the cap’s design may have changed before the caps were actually made. Nevertheless, I also hope to find that specific version of the VB cap someday.
I recently got a Blockbuster’s Virtual Boy Must See 3-D Sweepstakes brochure

Updated collection pic for 2018 🙂What’s the white boxed VB ? Is it a debug version ?
Most white-boxed VBs that are accounted for contain USA VB systems that were made early on in the production run (having serial numbers close to the 1000 mark, more or less) and that were intended to be used only for demonstration purposes. They are, nevertheless, nearly identical to all the other commercially released USA VB systems. There is also at least one known white-boxed VB that contains a pre-production VB system that was sent to a developer some time before the production run, so the VB system therein has no serial number at all on it. Other than that, that system is also almost identical to the commercially released version.
Unfortunately, no ROM or prototype cart for this game has been discovered so far.
You can download the ROM here: https://www.planetvb.com/modules/games/?h010d
In the list here: https://www.planetvb.com/modules/games/?hg
You can click on a title and then find its downloadable ROM, if it’s available, under the “Downloads” tab.
There has not yet been a prototype known to have made it out of the hands of the original developers. One might be able to play one of the Double Yakumans for the Game Boy on the Virtual Boy using the Game Boy Emulator, but I myself have never tried that.
If you go to the “Games” tab of the Homebrew section and click on one of the sort arrows of the second “Status” column, it puts all “Finished” games together in a single section.

Thanks for these! This is really awesome.I tried my hand at Photoshop using your translation…any interest in more of these?
I’m not sure if you noticed, but I had actually already created an English version of the Japanese article using Paint and other programs, which I included as an attachment in the post that also had just the digital text version of the translation and the attachment of the original Japanese article.
Right now, I don’t think I’ll be making any more Japanese to English translations for Virtual Boy stuff for a while, unless something new is found for a still unreleased VB game. I am actually working on other translation projects at the moment, completely not video game-related.
For the most part, though, this very thread should have just about all of my English translations ever made for unreleased Virtual Boy games.

There’s even a Tetris one!
They had better still release a proper version of Defender. I’m still worried about that.
Dude… Even the kid’s hairdo was altered, of all things.
I have sent up some prayers for him, too.
Hmmm… I wonder who, or what, the “legends” will be…

Hey Benjamin! Could you help me out in translating this :D?
Gosh… it would take me way too long to figure that out, especially to make out some of the characters. If you can’t find someone fluent in English and Japanese on here, I would recommend trying the translation forum section of Assembler Games.

Some games you all posted got an orange stickers on them. what is that? please let me know thanks
In Japan, unlike in North America, there was never a rental program during the commercial life of the Virtual Boy, whereby prospective customers could rent a Virtual Boy unit and/or games before buying them outright. Therefore, prospective customers had to play the VB games inside a retail store using the VB demo unit in the store, if they wanted to try them out before making a purchase. Six of the Japanese Virtual Boy games were sent to stores specifically for this purpose, and they each included a “Sample for Demonstration” sticker on their game boxes, which let the store know that these specific copies of the games were not to be sold to customers but were only to be used for the VB demo unit. The six Japanese Virtual Boy games that came in this “demo-only” form were Mario’s Tennis, Red Alarm, Teleroboxer, Galactic Pinball, Mario Clash, and Wario Land. On each orange sticker on the game boxes for these games, it reads “この商品は実演用サンプルとしてご使用ください”, which translates to “This product should be used as a sample for demonstration.” Finding copies of these Japanese demo games is extremely difficult these days for a few of them, especially Mario’s Tennis and Teleroboxer. Hope this info helps.

It’s an action game in which you control Mario to knock down enemies while going back and forth between two sets of lines in the front and back. In order to knock down the enemies, sometimes you will first need to stomp on a turtle that appears and throw it at the enemies to stun them. However, an enemy that you want to knock down cannot get stunned unless you throw from the front line when it’s in the back line or from the back line when it’s in the front. After that, you can knock down the stunned enemy by hitting it from the side with a turtle.
