That large boss enemy looks awfully cool, don’t recall any bosses that looked quite that impressive in Space Squash.

I don’t know if that character would have been a boss in the game, or if it would have simply been a character that was part of a story that may have gone along with the main play mode of the game. It would have been very cool, though, if the game would have had large boss characters, too!

Human’s first Virtual Boy action game, with an original character, is coming out! Aim for the goal by controlling the innocent-looking hero, Henry, to crush the enemies underfoot or knock them flying and to collect the items scattered on each stage. Since the screens in the field are all linked together, the endless sense of depth is fascinating!

Yeah, that’s the one thing about Mansion of Insmouse that frustrates me. It seems that the random placement of items can sometimes make it literally impossible to get the target time on a certain level.

Well, I don’t know how you have your Virtual Boy collection displayed, but it would certainly be very appropriate to keep the Nester dangler right next to your copy of Nester’s Funky Bowling!

Yep, I agree. $600.00 was actually my very generous offer, and I feel embarrassed to admit that I offered such a high amount.

There is definitely no difference between the ROM on the prototype cart and the ROM of the final game.

I honestly feel that the seller has no clue about the Virtual Boy market / collector community. The seller probably thinks, “Hey, Virtual Bowling can sell for close to $1,500.00, and this is way more rare than that, so surely it can sell for over $2,000.00.” Nevertheless, I’d be extremely shocked if anybody out there would want to pay anything even close to that. I’ve tested the seller myself with what I thought were extremely generous offers for such a thing, and it seems the seller doesn’t want to sell it for much less than the asking price.

Sounds interesting! I would definitely like to see updates as the project progresses.

It is undecided whether all the software introduced here will be released at all or not. It is said that the goal is to release “Red Alarm” at the same time as the system itself, but it currently gives the strong impression of being a demo that shows the Virtual Boy’s capabilities. Well, if it does actually get released, it’s a safe bet that it will be more powered up. Now, about other software of interest, T&E Soft also seems to be planning a sports title. Also at CES, a demo of dolphins swimming underwater was on display, but as of now, it is said that there is no plan to release it as a game. Please also note the last questionnaire.

Even with it being sealed, I’d say the most you could probably get for it would be $15.00 to $20.00. It is by far the most common of all Virtual Boy games.

Lately, I have been playing “Perfect Bowling,” a game that was originally only released in Japan for the NES/Famicom, and it is the hardest bowling video game I have ever played. The timing to get your desired bowl is so ridiculous. Getting a perfect 300 score in this game might be nearly impossible for me. This one is way harder than Nester’s Funky Bowling.

Dude… “Dynamite Bowl” for the Famicom is even worse in its difficulty than “Perfect Bowling”! It’s not even consistent. There are only a limited number of pixels to which you can move your bowler and on which you can stop the curve meter and power meter, and many times, I will line up my guy on the exact same pixel as before, stop the curve meter on the exact same spot as before, and stop the power meter also on the exact same spot as before, yet one time I will get a strike, and another time I will have one pin left standing… What the heck?! How is anybody supposed to account for and compensate for the random punkness?!

Well yeah, I know now that the Mario’s Tennis one is legit, since I have a copy of it in my collection.

Your collection, Mawa, is actually what made me doubt its existence for a while, since I know that was the last one you needed to complete your Japanese demo game collection, and you had been trying to complete yours long before I started trying to complete mine.

Okay, I just wanted to make sure you understood the rarity. For a while, I actually wasn’t even convinced that the Mario’s Tennis one was legit, as I couldn’t find a single photo of a real copy online.

I can certainly help you in your Japanese auction search, as I will probably fish for Virtual Boy stuff online for likely the rest of my life, so if something pops up that you need, I’ll drop you a line.

Ding ding ding, right you are sir. Looking for the Japanese demo versions of Red Alarm and Mario’s Tennis, with the “sample version” stickers on the boxes (the Red Alarm sticker being different from the rest of the bunch). I’d reflect that in the OP but I missed the editing window, doh!

You’ll probably have to be extremely patient and persevering for those two, especially for the Mario’s Tennis one. I searched Yahoo! Auctions Japan for a good year and a half before the ones I now have popped up. Those are very likely much more rare than Virtual Bowling and Virtual Lab combined, but they don’t sell for much at all since most people don’t care about them.
