The last time he showed any real definitive proof he was working on it was way back in June, after such he just made claims until early September then never logged back into PlanetVB since then.

That’s fascinating, especially if they are making a smaller version of the Virtual Boy.

I am super interested in seeing a Point N Click adventure game like Ambrosines Monster Manor. It’s what I’ve wanted since the first time I played a Virtual Boy.

I submit to you all that there was nothing that could have been done. VR and 3D technology in general is very gimmicky, and even when built well; it’s still got very low adoption. 3D TVs while amazing came and went with little fanfare. Nobody even talks about Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR or any of the other ones, they are gimmicky and only fill a very small group of peoples interest.

When Nintendo 3DS launched hardly anybody was interested, and it appeared as though it was going to fade out. It wasn’t until prices lowered and people realized they could play games without the 3D that it became everyone’s console.

So, to recap, people suck! 😉

Essentially yes and because of the general population not watching IMAX 3D, it’s now completely dead.

The 3D craze has almost ended, but I personally was always thrilled to see movies in 3D.

Hmm the background in your copy looks messed up compared to the rom we are all familiar with.

I’m sure it’s referencing Wario Cruise which was later renamed Wario Land. I’m sure they merely had an accidental mix up of the title a bit.

The problem is everyone on this forum is aware of resources to fix their VB. Thus nobody ever has a system that can be parted out.

May I ask how you are missing a display?

I tried it but couldn’t get very far; I guess I’m just not any good at this type of game.

Send them in an old cd case, with a bubble mailer. That’s what I did and they were perfectly safe.

Mednafen must have inaccurate sound emulation, that’s the only logical explanation.

This sounds cool but it’s a non-3D system, so that’s sort of disappointing. That’s why I chose to build onto Pocket Chip (I actually originally did some testing on Raspberry Pi 3B, but it just wasn’t what I hoped for) which allows for on the go 3D gaming as well as video out. The split screen display should allow for use on a 3D TV.

Honestly, Vectrex games could probably be perfectly ported to our beloved Virtual Boy.

I’d like to see:
Cosmic Chasm
Spike
Berzerk
Scramble

It’s nothing more then a slight colorization to games. Actually, I wonder why Vectrex games haven’t been ported to the Virtual Boy.

Wow, that is a great price! You can purchase reprinted overlays, if it doesn’t bother you.
The fact that it was dirty wouldn’t bother me either, as a nice bottle of rubbing alcohol, diluted with water and some Dawn dish soap can go a long way.

I’ve been trying to find a reasonable priced one for years, of you don’t mind my inquiry; what did you pay? Also, I highly recommend purchasing a flashcart from our very own MineStorm.

Oh I also wanted to mention that you can do video out on this system which will display the two images side by side on the TV (some 3D TVs can take two side by side images and convert them into viewable 3D.)

So, I just compared a real VB to the Pockulus Chip, and discovered that the image in Pockulus is much larger than what you see in a real Virtual Boy (about 1.5x). Also strangely enough the 3D depth in games like Jack Bros. actually looks more effective in Pockulus Chip.

If I could correct the sound issue and have a better resolution screen then this would actually surpass real hardware. Sadly, I don’t believe the sound issues are fixable and finding a suitable 3.5” screen in a higher resolution would be much more expensive.

Benefits of Pockulus Chip:
*9 save slots for every game (including games not originally having a save function)
*1.5x image size thus a larger view
*ability to change the colors to anything (still only a shade of any color)
*light weight and actually able to be worn with true portability
*all games are stored on the system and swapping games is quick

Downfalls of the Pockulus Chip:
*poor sound quality (to the point when you’d rather play in silence or with the sound at no greater then 20%)
*lower resolution screen (though its only really noticeable in games like Baseball, SD Gundam, Vertical Force and Red Alarm)

@JoePassive – I will contact my project partner and see what he says about making kits.

@Gaming_Comics
– Any single color shade that you wish to do is possible, I have tried black and white and it’s quite nice for games like “Insmouse No Yakata.”

Also in case anyone wondered, every game has 9 potential save slots, that are accessed by tapping one of the upper keyboard numbers.

The two downsides are sound emulation is a bit crackily, and the resolution isn’t exactly VB spec. It looks more pixelated for sure. I am not bothered by either of the slight issues since I can now play VB games on the go easily.

Also the Gameboy to Virtual Boy emulation in 3D is very cool in black and white. It’s like the ultimate 3D Gameboy.
