Well, you can’t make up for that but you could try and buy current stuff at good prices. I have been thinking about getting a brand new PS2 now that they’ll probably stop making them soon… What’s more out there, old versions of the Nintendo DS perhaps (are there three or four versions now?). The GameBoy Micro perhaps… What more?

Depending on what’s wrong with it I’m guessing the answer is: No it can probably not easily be fixed.

5R or 1R sounds more like the value of the resistor… (5 ohm and 1 ohm)

My bad, I thought the diode was there to half-wave-rectify (or whatever it’s called in English) AC voltage – but I guess it’s just there for protection, as the resistor is there for current limiting. What does the inductor do?

It looks like that small thing on the left is an isolating transformer?

Do both version of the converters generate the same .vb files?

I have a Vectrex but those (3D Imagers) are hard to come by, I was planning to build my own (3D Imager) some time…

A portable CD-player motor with holder for disc, transparent CD-sized discs colored according to each game’s original disc, a welder’s mask or similar to mount it all… and then I have the Sean Kelly Multi-Cart.

No not me, I don’t have a FlashBoy, but there was some other guy that put the FlashBoy in with the cable attached and noticed it turned on (and wrote about it here) – connected to the computer. And after a brief discussion we came to the conclusion that a wall outlet USB-charger would be a safer alternative. As long as it keeps the voltage at 5V it’s safe – not as safe though as connecting power to where you are supposed to – as it can better handle differencies in voltage that way. I wouldn’t buy the cheapest USB charger I could find though – to bad if it shoyld break… You need a well regulated 5V source – a USB-charger has just that.

At a local well known Swedish stuff shop clasohlson.se they have USB chargers for about €10 and they have them for €25, €35, €40 – I would perhaps not get the €10 (even though it would supply enough power) but it would most likely work just fine. DogP was able to run a unit at 3,3V so in that direction it seems rather safe.

That would work really well as I do not have any friends who reside in the US 😐

So get one, if you sell something, let them have a good deal, talk about a common interest, it’s not that hard. Then you just ask for a favour – none of my internet friends in the states have ever said no. You don’t have to ask the same guy every time of course – how much do you really buy?

I asked a friend of mine to get one of those $10 2-pack V.L. Baseball since techbabe won’t ship outside the US and is hard to reach by e-mail… Worked out nicely – not that he has received it yet though, it was just a couple of days ago.

I think it’s hard to get a three-letter .com-adress, those that aren’t already taken are registered by others that hope to make money from selling them expensive sometime.

If the processor (or whatever it is that handles the USB) doesn’t go into hibernation when no USB-cable is connected I imagine it will draw more power than a normal cartridge. Those masked roms also usually draw less power than a programmable rom. Using uv-eproms, the 27C160 kind drains batteries pretty quickly – that’s why I made my own adapter.

You can use a USB-charger that plugs in your wall outlet and power your V.B. with a long enough USB cable while playing (don’t connect from a computer it’s not capable of delivering enough current).

Only backdraw there is that you can’t use the on/off button (but who cares).
