The stand medallion replacement has been bid pretty high, it’s not a good value any longer.
Yeah thats just daft, he even says its made by someone on planet virtual boy, them folks either don’t get he means a web site or are a bit too lazy to check it out and get one for half the price it is now.
Good luck to him, he will have covered his cost to buy 2off if it goes a little higher.
Makes me think I should do ebay, but I just can’t be bothered, besides if folks find the medallion fix they also find our great site and community and y’never know they might have something rare to share.

Hedgetrimmer’s “Stand Medallion”…
Oh yeah well spotted, its not from me though. I think I know who it is as I sold him a couple of them, so he’s just selling the spare.
He’s selling it for less than I am when you work out the exchange rate, $10 is about £6.70, I charge £7, also the postage charge will be less, so if you live in the US and need a kit I’d say go for it.
Excellent work Greg.
I have only just looked at the vid Ben posted, will try it on hardware soon, but what i have seen looks great. I love wireframe & vector graphics, so this made me smile, thanks fella.
Hi Egg, welcome to a really great little VB community.
First off, I’d recommend getting yourself a Flashboy and then you can play all the cool homebrew and the few unreleased gems that are around this way, you can also check out the retail games as some are a little on the costly side and not actually worth playing anyway other than for novelty value.
User minestorm is the fella to contact if you are interested in flashboy.
Hope you enjoy it here.
Thanks for those.
I had to chuckle reading the last line of the Edge stuff, ‘remember they said the Gameboy would never catch on…………..
Mmmmmmmm. Sadly in this case they were right.

But to much $ for me
So glad I don’t have the collector bug, $200 for a badge just seems crazy to me.

Speaking of translucent fillament is there any way to “print out a couple of translucent red eyeguards clear enough to use them mine have scratches on them. If you guys (MineStorm and Hedgetrimmer) can’t do it on your hardware, could shapeways and how much would it cost? I need six of them. Thanks
I have had a couple of things 3D printed in clear translucent, but its not that clear or that translucent. This was 8 months ago so maybe the material has been improved but I would say printing the lens’s is not really an option, but I would be happy to model them up if someone wants to try.

KR155E: Hedgetrimmer’s visor plate STL download doesn’t work! I managed to use the OBJ version, but it’s still a problem…Hedgetrimmer: Nice job! I had already made a basic version in SketchUp, but yours is (as usual) insanely accurate!
Thanks fella, heres a revised version, the cutouts now are dimensionally in the right place to mate with the locating tabs on the head.
This is only really for anyone who wants an accurate model to make anything from, so I’ve just enclosed an STL version, it looks identical to the original but there are minor changes that were needed to make the model accurate to what exists, hence raising it to revision A.

Visor mount needs altering slightly.
I need to alter the length and cutout positions in the visor, cutouts are crucial to positioning as they locate to the tabs on the head unit, I didn’t double check the crucial mount dimensions before i released the model, have done so now and need to tweak, so if anyone is planning on 3D printing one from the model i posted the other day please don’t, it won’t fit.
I only need to tweak it by 1mm or 2 but it does need updating when i get the time, hopefully some time today.

That is seriously nice Hedge=D any luck on getting that file in obj?
Thanks fella.
Solidworks doesn’t export in obj, but I just remembered i have a copy of meshlab installed on this pc, so I imported the stl into meshlab and exported as an obj, so I hope it turns out ok.

Visor mount 3D model done.
Render below, you can also take a look at it with a 3D pdf and for the 3D modelling & printing folks an STL.
I’m pretty sure its dimensionally accurate but I’ve not double checked it.
If you can also do an stl I’d like to take a look at what you have achieved, for some reason Solidworks doesn’t import obj files, I guess because they are just polygon faces and no solids, but it will import stl.
Nice.
I will point out my user name is Hedgetrimmer, the VUE(xpert) part is a title PlanetVB gives once you have posted a certain amount of times, you are VB Gamer.
Anyway it would be interesting to see how they turn out if you do get some made.
Dust cap stl model enclosed.
I have been wanting to do the visor housing, just finding time to measure and model it, one day I’ll get round to it, but if someone does scan one I’d like a copy too.
I get some stuff printed with Shapeways.com, I have VB cart cases & dust cap in my shop there.

Those sharp vector lines though, so amazing! If there were two consoles I could keep out of my entire collection, it would be without a doubt the Vectrex and the Virtual Boy, my favorite underdogs of gaming history.
Totally agree, there is nothing else that looks like vectrex.
If you do find a good source for overlays I could be interested in a set, I recently got mine and it came with a multi cart so like you just experiencing the white vectors, overlays will enhance the vectrex experience.
Someone been asking about link cables so thought I’d bump the post back into the list.
Quite alot has been done, just not quite finished. There have been some manufacturing issues, not entirely sure what the current status is with it.

This really sucks. You’re doing such good work bringing us Faceball. Us collectors really want a CIB copy of this game and have no problem paying for it. Ignore those other people. Don’t let the VB fans suffer because of this. I would love for a CIB copy of Faceball as would many other hardcore VB fans. Please don’t rob us of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because of some random people.
Some how I doubt ‘ignoring those people’ and going ahead is a good road for Eric to travel, he’s already shelled out a packet & could loose alot more if legal issues arise.
Hey why not sell your collection and take over the job Eric is doing, you can make and sell as many carts as you want.

I’m 100% sure there is an ‘inner circle’ and that it has at least 2 members from this site.
Yeah I have had my suspicions about that ‘inner circle’ too, we just need someone in there to have a change of mindset and decide its only a game, like everything is, so lets all play it, but I think Ben Stevens is pretty much bang on with his theory, so its unlikely.
Yeah I’m sure both do exist somewhere, I’d like to think its the last part of Ben’s theory, sitting in the bottom draw in some chaps office who has no idea of what in there and one dull day he tips the lots out to sort it and decides to google this odd looking cart he has in hand…….. and we all smile when a newbie posts hello, look what i found…..

Besides, the voltage listed on there is 300mA. I don’t exactly know what that means but it sounds considerably higher than 1.4A…
I’m no expert but 300mA is less than 1.4A, 1,4A I think would equate to 1400mA.
I use a DC adapter (a homebrew made one) plate and use either a 1A or a 500mA transformer, which ever is to hand, they both work so I’d say try it with your 300mA adapter, set the voltage to 7.5 or 9v and you should be seeing red (not angry red, joyful VB red playfulness)
