Thanks thunderstruck. This is a nice gift for the weekend. Would it be possible for you to upload just the patch as well? I’d rather send a few friends the patch than the ROM.

You can find the patch here: http://www.planetvb.com/content/downloads/patches/Virtual.Fishing.English.v.1.0.ips.zip

Thanks guys, it’s working for me now! The result for the tower looks a bit weird, but maybe it’s not the right kind of image to throw at the converter. I should try a different one.

I wanted to 3D-fy some flat images of our Platformer Demo using this tool but it did not work, the 3D images do not show up in the converter.

Do the graphics have to fulfill some requirements like a certain bit depth or something?

Amazing! Playing with this right now. 😎

Looking up PVB members was the first thing that came to mind, but looks like I just did not look up the right names. Or, in, other words… I knew you’d do that. 😉

Wow, this is amazing! Really, really well made. That detail, beautiful! Looks 100% accurate to me.

Combined with Hedgetrimmer’s models of the stand and controller we now got an almost complete Virtual Virtual Boy. 😀 Only the battery pak is missing from the lot.

Too bad there’s no download link, but I managed to intercept the models (.bin files) and HD textures, find them attached. I am no expert in that field, though, so I am not sure if these files equal the model I can view in the browser or if anything is missing.

On a different note, there are 3 Easter eggs hidden in my demo. One is in the Jordan computer (because I forgot to remove it), one is a reference to the Japanese version and one is breaking the 4th wall. Did anyone happen to find one?

Couldn’t find any of them… Any hints? 🙂

Reel Big Fish: Early Windows builds are available on the emu’s new blog: https://rustualboy.com/

It currently has no GUI, so you have to start it from the command line.

I just booted Bound High! on Rustual Boy and… holy crapz0r! The emulation seemed perfect, including audio! Amazing job, ferris!

Reel Big Fish, is there any new information in that report? I wish I could understand what they’re babbling. 😀

Hey, welcome to the site!

I recently took refuge on planet virtual boy – what an amazing site!

Thank you! 🙂

Whish a had more programming skills, to make some homebrew games too …

Your profile suggests that you’re good at graphics, so maybe one of the devs around would be interested in a collaboration? You could open a thread and post some work of yours, maybe a mockup screen of a possible VB game, to find someone to join forces with.

Beautiful! Thank you Ben! :vb:

Oh, so this is not a game for the Virtual Boy, but a PC game that’s made to look like a Virtual Boy game? Indeed, that was not clear at all, you made it sound like this game was a Virtual Boy homebrew. Even that last post left room for speculations and I was wondering until I saw the mention of a Z button in one screenshot. 😀

It’s looking better and better, though. I like the screen transition!

That’s a very interesting idea! I hope you can find some lenses which work well, clonecman, since I’d really love a bigger image. 🙂

For the sake of simplicity, I hope lenses can be mounted inside the red eye pieces.

There was definitely mention of a clip/clamp a while ago, maybe on that original VB repair thread.

Hmm, this? http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=25202#forumpost25202

“Contoroll” 😀

What a beauty! I am still dreaming of owning one of these one day. Is it for sale?

BTW, doesn’t that golden Mario above the display look familiar?

This looks very nice, cool idea! You can do a poster like this on your own for pennies, though. Just throw together some images from the various patents and pay your local print shop a visit – or even print it yourself at home.

I may be misreading it, but does it say ‘Patented 1999’ on there?

Yup, sounds really odd but it’s true. The main patent for the Virtual Boy was filed on May 1st, 1996 and was issued on February 2nd, 1999.

EDIT: this variant on blue graph paper is my favorite 🙂

Hi and welcome syncophono! The easiest way would be to run VBDE inside a Windows Virtual Machine. I am using this setup on a Ubuntu laptop and it’s working nicely.

You’ll need:
* A copy of VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/)
* A Windows VirtualBoy image (http://modern.ie)
* The latest VBDE (http://vbde.planetvb.com)

A new version of VBDE featuring ElmerPCFX’s latest gcc 4.7 patches is in preparation and should be out in the not too distant future. 🙂

Nice, that’s some pretty rare (and even first hand) information! Really hard to find otherwise.

Found one more issue mentioning Virtual Boy: http://www.ebay.com/itm/322237325634

Haha, HP Lovethrash, that’s a good one. I just added a new slogan to the pool. 🙂

P.S.: stop staring at me like that, Ken Griffey Jr… Lucky dude probably played Dragon Hopper on that development cart.

Would you be willing to scan the other pages of these reports as well, vuefinder83? I’d find them quite interesting, especially the pages on N64. Also, such rare material should be preserved in its entirety IMHO. 🙂
