Do you mean that you automatically see the “Thank you for logging in” screen when coming back to the site or are you just still logged in?

Yeah, such little changes are OK. Just keep the “Planet Virtual Boy” intact. 😉

Huh? But I did not change anything. Auto login is not even activated. o_O

Good opportunity for them to get rid of old stars… I wonder how many people complained.

Sure, you can release as many updates as you wish. The last one posted in the release thread will be the competing one (unless stated otherwise by you).

Bug report:

– After winning, I can increase the win counter by pressing A
– On rare ocassions, some pieces changed places after a game ended with a tie

Don’t forget to open an entry thread on the compo forum when the game is finished. 🙂

The link works fine for me.

If you don’t care about licenses, you don’t have to deal with them. Just release stuff as usual and everything is OK.

Well, because it’s a prototype controller. Look at the “button” colors.

The poster has been replaced with an updated version thanks to a better render Hedgetrimmer send me. This now has smoother curved “tentacles”, button labels and a proper beta logo on the controller.

Reality Boy Demo 1 does exactly what you need. 🙂

The autologin feature has been disabled again for weeks. Experiment failed.

I am using a Xbox 360 Wireless Pad for Windows + XPadder to map the buttons. Works great! I can use the two sticks to emulate both DPads if needed.

P.S. Please use the image attachment function of the forum instead of hotlinking.

Do we have to use the exact code you included, or just the image? I’d rather use vbFXFadeIn and vbFXFadeOut.

You can use your own code, mine is just an example. Will add that to the rules.

DevilsAvocado, I very much appreciate your will to create a video promo for the competition. Please feel free to use anything you find on PVB; mp3s, screenshots, videos, whatever. If you need anything specific, just send me a PM and I will do my best to supply you with the material you need. 🙂

Videos can be captured directly from screen of the game running on Reality Boy. One program I know that can do this is called camtasia.

I can make some photos of the shirt. Alternatively, I think DogP posted some of the one he won in the last competition.

Two quick links to audio material:

One idea: It’s probably impossible to create animations with Solidworks, but if it was possible, it would be cool to show the controller (without the “tentacles”) in some motion; it could for example move/spin to the position it has on the poster, then you see the buttons and d-pads fly out of it to form the “tentacles” seen on the poster artwork (BTW, those are meant as an allegory for creativity.)

I should sleep more… “Competition”, of course, otherwise I’d soon have to sleep under a bridge. Sorry for any confusion and thanks for pointing that out, Daniele. 😉

Heh, no. Actually I have been sending PMs with the guy for a while, he made some good proposals for the compo. 🙂

Oh dear god, no more conspiracy theories please. Don’t get jojobean any ideas. 😉

Hm, theoretically, there could be nearly 50 modes added with adventure on all difficulties, all pocket&cushion level, als score attack levels and random mode.

But I am afraid BH highscore table are a problem, since there’s no good way to check your scores in random and adventure modes. No high score lists, no “best score” anywhere, no way to pause your game after losing your last life to take a screenshot of the score.

The other two modes show your best scores, but I don’t think it’d make much sense adding them, since there’s a best score you can reach more or less easily if you know how.

Perhaps we could make our own criteria like “best total score in pocket&cushion mode” or something.

Yep! It is. I need to have another look at the game this evening to see which highscore tables can be added to the site. Any proposals?

Thanks for pointing these things out! I updated the rules. Most notably:

– Multiple entries are allowed, but will be rated individually (means you can’t collect votes through multiple projects). This means on one hand, that your project will compete with each other, on the other hand that, if they’re all good, you’ll maximize your chance of winning with one of the projects.

– In case of multiple submission, each individual can still only get one prize (i.e. if someone’s projects place 1st and 2nd, he will get the 1st prize, while the 2nd prize will be awarded to the 3rd placed entry and so on).
