I think this article actually talks about the Virtual Boy’s commercial failure in a respectful way, which is nice and seems to be a rare thing.

can I get the file for the manual so i can print it out myself? i have the cart and box and would like to complete it.
if you’re not willing to release that file, how much would you charge for just the manual?
thanks

Shenmueso,

If you look back at Post #3 on this thread, you will find the first time that you asked about getting a free Bound High Instruction Booklet for you to print out for yourself. If you look at Post #8 on this thread, you will see that I quoted your question about the free Bound High manual and then wrote a bunch of words. If you actually read these words, you will find that these words are an answer to your question, and therefore, I already answered your question about the already released Bound High Instruction Booklet almost 3 months ago. Now, contained within that answer to your question are a bunch of words and characters, etc. which are all underlined. This is known as a “link.” You will also notice that there are 2 separate links, and my words above each link explain to where each of the links will take you if you click on them with the left mouse button. Once you go to your location of choice, you will be able to find your free, online Bound High Instruction Booklet pages which you can print off and assemble into an instruction booklet for yourself. If you need further instructions for how to download these files, I can certainly answer any questions for you in this regard.

Now, assuming you can follow these instructions that I gave you, there should be no need for you to ask UncleTusker for a free release of his Bound High Instruction Booklet file ever again.

How will the marketplace forum work when a poster wants to indicate that the advertisement is no longer in effect? Should a seller simply make a post saying that the item is no longer available and a buyer make a post that he is no longer looking for a particular item, or can requests be made to lock the forum topic so that people will know it is no longer in effect?

Here’s a ROM that contains GameHero and Fishbone. When it starts, both displays will be blank. Press the L button for GameHero or R for Fishbone.

You might experience some glitches because most of the code patching was done by a program I wrote, and it’s pretty much impossible for a program to guess everything correctly. Also, the games will overwrite each other’s data on the SRAM and I didn’t attempt to correct that. I also haven’t tested the ROM on hardware.

Perhaps you’ve already discovered it yourself, but I’m just posting to let you know that I tried out the joint file on hardware, and GameHero seemed to run just fine, but Fishbone didn’t work at all; it just gave me a blank screen with garbled sound. The joint file did run perfectly for me in Reality Boy, though.

I definitely agree that bigmak is a very nice guy. 🙂

This joint file is, indeed, really neat. I’ll have to go for Fishbone High Scores on this version and see if I notice any differences in gameplay from the stand-alone ROM. With this program applied to ROMs, now the “Thunderstruck Collection” or “HorvatM Collection,” etc. could each be released on individual carts.

I’ve beaten both quests and have my high scores posted in the high score section of this site. I hope to sit down someday soon and try to beat sebmal’s times, and I sure hope that others will join in the high score competition as well!

I received a strange message from somebody who desires to remain anonymous. I made some edits to the original message, and the rest of it reads as follows:

… I have been reading your posts about the Bound High scammer on ebay…

Allow me to introduce myself. I am (information removed by Benjamin Stevens), and I am going to teach you how to ruin an ebay seller’s day… (more information deleted by Benjamin Stevens)

Step 1 : Wait until the very last day of the month.

Step 2 : Create ebay “guest” account and do a BUY-IT-NOW on the item.

Step 3 : Tell him you have to wait about 4-5 days to get your bank statement so you can verify your Paypal account.

Step 4 : After day 5 he is screwed. His Ebay fees for the previous month will come due on the 7th or 8th of the month, and he will be out roughly $60.00.

He will only be able to get that money back via the NON-PAYING BIDDER process, and depending on how long you string him along, it could be quite a while before he gets his money back.

Please post this in the Auction thread, but do not attribute it to me. (information deleted by Benjamin Stevens)

That video gives a nice sample of each level. I really like the death screen, where the fish explodes into a boney mess. I think it’s hilarious. I’ve certainly already seen it dozens and dozens of times in my attempts for perfect scores in each stage. Still haven’t gotten a single one yet, though.

I’m guessing that Virtual_Ben received inspiration for his box design from the box of V-Tetris. It also has that kind of information in its black margin at the bottom of its box:

a colour version of the GB game was released for the Game Gear.

Thanks for this info, Dave.

All of the Faceball excitement has caused me to want to get all of the different versions of Faceball for their original systems. I don’t own a Game Gear, however, and wasn’t aware that Faceball for it was simply the Game Boy version in color. Since that is the case, and all the levels and enemies are the same as the Game Boy version (which I already have and love) but everything is in color, I guess this will save me from buying both the Game Gear and Faceball for it.

Why do these dumb mother truckers continue to try to fleece eBay users?

The last Bound High seller on Ebay was French Canadian, and it looks like this seller is French Canadian as well… Perhaps there is a connection there?

*EDIT: Oh yeah… just checked the last one. It’s the exact same seller account. I figured he wouldn’t wait too long to try again.

Maybe should call the original owner Mr. X.

Or better yet, one could call the original owner Mr. E… get it? 🙂

When you do decide to order a FlashBoy+ from Richard, just ask him in your e-mail if he presently needs any donor carts for the FlashBoy+ and how many. Sometimes he has needed them and other times he hasn’t needed them because he already had a large stock on hand, but I would have donor carts ready to send to him since he is always in need of them.

I would use a Yahoo Auctions Japan proxy service as a middleman to do all of the buying. I know that some sellers on there don’t give the option to ship items internationally, but if you use a proxy service, you should never have to worry about that – someone correct me if I’m wrong. I’ve never bought directly on Yahoo Auctions Japan, so I don’t know how easy that would be.

Yeah… those are basically the only two online sites where I search for all Virtual Boy games. I know that some other people have found great deals by performing google searches and buying stuff on other sites, or by asking around on Nintendo fan sites like this one itself or NintendoAge, etc. to see if somebody might happen to have an extra copy of a game that they are willing to sell at a nice or fair price. I don’t know of any block and mortar stores in my area that have any Virtual Boy games, so I basically have to rely on the internet.

That’s a very nice selection of games you own. Once you find them all (I’m confident you will), I would definitely recommend adding Space Squash to your collection if you can. It’s definitely the kind of game that the Virtual Boy was intended for and SOOOOOO much fun!

I definitely hope you find those games, so that you can enjoy some VB gaming soon. Do you remember what all games you own?

Just played it on hardware and it works perfect but as a game it is sadly dissapointing
You go around finding enemies that from what I could see dont attack back and then you got a timer

I was hoping more like golden eye 007 N64 where enemies attack back, you have missions and so on

Still very good made

akumie,

Do you understand what a “work-in-progress” is? It is whenever only a small portion of a much larger work has been completed so far. DanB simply released a very early version of his work-in-progress and mentioned that he has hardly put any AI into the game. Thus, you never should have played this work-in-progress with an expectation that there would be enemies that fight back.
