Personally I’d go for the Flashboy+ first, but if Richard doesn’t need donors for a copy of Bound High go for that too as you will eventually want a dedicated copy of BH, top game we are all very lucky to be playing.
Being in the UK too I know how hard it is to find spare carts without incurring daft shipping costs etc.
Hope the VB unit arrives unscathed so you can get the red LED’s spraying joy into your brain.
Don’t forget IPD and focus setup is crucial to allow long session playing.

I would love one of course. 🙂

Is the donor cart situation healthy at this time? Also Bound High is like a HUGE thing for me and one of the reasons I have gotten my VB in the first place.

When I finally get my VB shall I just send an email as per the address on the first page of the thread?

Obviously looking to get the FB+ please.

Huge appreciation and thanks!

**EDIT: Oh yeah… Almost forgot… I am based in the UK too…

Cool idea, I look forward to it.

Oooo thats nice and its a Giclée print, should look supa sweet, quality work.
Now I’m tempted…….

Thanks morintari. The etching is ok, not the best hence i thought offer as an option.

I have no intention on doing anything to the original stand clamp mechanism, my clamping unit design for the adjustable stand won’t fit to it and as it works already best to leave as is.

Very Nice HT:D tell me is your clamp solution working on the original stand as well? If not will you be making a clamp that works on the original stand?

Update:

Medallions now with a choice of etched with Neartendo logo or plain, see pictures.
Price is the same for either of them (£7) as the etching was a trial that worked out ok, I have 9off these etched.
I do also have the plain type.

PM me if interested and we’ll sort paypal and address info.

Got my adjustable stand finished, now with a nice shiny black base, several photos enclosed.
At full height the unit can sit on a desk and you can play while standing up, in theory the height could be more, its all down the the length of the upright. The unit can also be tilted to suit viewing angle.
I don’t think i am gonna offer these for sale, quite a lot of work goes into it and it doesn’t justify the cost, as with most hobby things you spend an age making something that’s only really worth a few quid.
I hope folks like the pics, I will help anyone out with drawings etc if they want to have a go, the clamp drawings are posted earlier in this thread.

Hardly surprising really, a lyric springs to mind, ‘let the haters hate, they like way too late’, yeah only 17 years too late, oh hang on he was probably only a drunken fumble in the back of a car back then.

Youtube won’t crack down on trolling, more trolling = more traffic, they don’t care about quality, only quantity.

Cool story, I too like to hear of these launch events etc, being in the UK it never made it over the water so all we ever got were glimpses in magazines, all very intriguing but I wanted to play this thing, never got to actually see one until maybe 10years later, I then finally got one in 2008, and another in 2012.
Enjoy this great little community.

So the stand clamp is fixed w a set of screws? could you make another one that is not fixed you know like the original but maybe a metal clamp instead of plastic?

No the clamp holds the unit in place with the spring pressure, the screws hold the clamp parts together and allow the smaller piece to be pushed out and spring back again holding the VB unit.
I made a little animation of the motion.

I don’t think making a metal clamp would be wise, it being harder than the VB unit would mean if anything broke it would be the unit mounting area plastic not the stand clamp.

PDF with dimensioned parts and also a 3D pdf of the clamp unit, hope it helps if anyone wants to give it a go.

I’ll get some dimensioned drawings for you, I just worked from marked up prints once i had the design sorted, but it won’t take much to do it proper style.
There is not that much to it, just a few holes in the right place, and the groove cut outs to grip the unit.
I used 15mm thick PVC, so something like that will work fine, you may need to tweak some dims to take into account any material differences when doing the gripping parts but the rest is simple enough.

Howdy Qen, got yourself one cool system and found the top VB site, welcome.
Its a fine console, I hope you can sort your glitchy displays and a flashboy is a must if you want to play everything on hardware.

Hell yeah they look sweet.
I have actually made one myself, not got any photos yet but heres a render. I have also designed and made a sprung clamp unit that holds the VB nice n solid.
I could send you some dimensioned drawings if you can use a mill you can make one up, just need some 15mm thick PVC (or similar) some shoulder screws and springs, took me about 2 hours to make it.
This has height & angle adjustment. I will have to take some pics with my VB unit in place and post em later.

fingers crossed, knocking on wood, all that stuff, big love to you and yours.

Few questions answered:

Black material: for now its still the grey, which personally I’m not worried about, its a similar grey to the carts, but yes black is possible, I will pick up a sheet with the proceeds from this new batch.

Engraving: We can now laser etch these, I have a tester and it worked, I am gonna see how in filling the text with red paint looks, but there will now be a Neartendo logo on them.

Self tap screws: I went for those originally but i found the medallion cracked. The medallion being solid meant it didn’t flex so much and had to give somewhere, cracking at the base of the screw location (I posted some photos etc about this when it happened with the red ones I made http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=3639&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0&start=0 ) so I went for thru screws. I guess longer self tap screws would be ok, they would go deeper into the material and may not crack, maybe by using the nylon washers too to allow a bit more ‘give’ when opening the legs.
The current batch has thru holes, maybe future I could just do a blind hole to allow using self tappers, but if anyone then has a problem they could be drilled thru and nuts used.

Let me know your thoughts folks and I’ll see what can be done.

I now have a fully working VB! 😀

There is nothing like playing a VB game on real VB hardware, congrats on getting one, and welcome to the site.

Good work fella, mucho grande kudos to you.
This could, like you say, lead to a whole new PVB related ROM with levels by us.
I do hope you manage to sort the monster placement editor too.

BACK ON AGAIN

Now that was quick, unknown to me the fella who made up the first batch made another last week, I mentioned I had sold most of them the other day while making a brew so he went for another batch, got 20off them this time.
I have asked about engraving them but its just not that easy, a slight discrepancy and it ends up all off set to one side.

So we still looking at £7 each but post costs in the UK went up massively last week, I went to send one to Greece and the cost had gone up 50%, so I lost out on postage on that one.
Now looking at UK £3, EU £3.50, US £4.

Let me know if you want one by PM and we’ll sort out paypal and address stuff.

Tricky to decide, I would go for what i consider I have played with most, so:

1. DS
2. Gameboy
3. GBA
4. SNES
5. NES

For me mostly handhelds, then the old fav 8 & 16bit.
VB would be in the top 10 as it is a favorite, but honestly I don’t play it a huge amount, it gets picked up and played every few weeks, I get a hankering for a blast of red n black, but usually an hour or so and I’m done.

I think the 3DS will replace the DS at the top in a year or so, but only as thats the one in my pocket right now.

The ZX81 & Spectrum should be in there as most of my yoof was spent playing on them, but they are computers not a consoles.

SOLD OUT

Thanks to the folks who bought one.

I will be getting another batch together, so please PM me and I will keep a list and let folks know when they are done and where to pay.

As soon as I have another batch I will post to let y’all know.
