emulator (and hardware) compatability information is a very good idea, i think i will add that. anyone willing to compile a list, which homebrews run on hardware and the different emulators? pacman? 😀
the other idea is good as well, i will soon add some kind of flags to the homebrew games which indicate whether a game is complete or only a demo, or something like that.
akumie, did you actually read his post? ~_~
anyway, this sounds intesting hawl, how about some screenshots? is there anything to show yet?
i am selling some stuff on ebay:
flashboy #222
playing cards
space squash
eyeshade
headphones
performance ac adaptor
note to myself: also get your hands on famitsu from august 25th, 1995. contains info abount virtual bomberman and virtual block. 😛

yep, moved.
some reviews are missing because i can’t even play games like 3d battlesnake, due to my link cable not working, and others are still in development, or are only simple demos not really worth reviewing.
lack of descriptions, multimedia and stuff is due to lack of time. i plan to update the section soon with all that stuff, though, and also add the new chrono trigger demo.
implementing videos through youtube? well, you can of course (if that’s what you mean) download any video from this site and upload it to youtube. everybody is doing it nowadays, anyway, so i don’t really care. 😛 a link to planet virtual boy in the video’s description would be nice, though.
yeah, it was the same trading cards i offered here for a whole year or so for 25 euro and nobody was interested. well, now they’re going up on ebay soon. 😉
so the “flash” button of the loader stays greyed out? is it recognized by your computer? which os are you using? are you using an usb hub?
there’s currently no further flashboy batch planned, but i am still looking for carts for a blox 2 cart release! does anyone have some? loose carts (with dust cover) are fine now, since complete games became much rarer again lately.
Current status: I did not get a reply from many who preordered, so I have some FlashBoys left!
Optionally (if you want a low serial number from the second batch), Vectrexer also has some on sale on ebay.
some time last year, i’ve built a link cable using the cable from a snes 3rd party rgb cable i modified for one of the plugs, but it did not work (instead locked up the virtual boys if i remember correctly). might it be the cable? should i use a cat5 instead?
i have a box of those snes rgb cables and could build maybe 8 or 9 cables with them.
well… i guess i am pretty good at tetris. 😉 you need to start low, always go for tetrises and have patience… i think it took quite some time.
wow! thanks suzushu! i was looking for contact info on your blog but could not find any. how did you find here? 🙂
those are the first screens to ever appear for those two games. could you please make some high res scans and/or translate the text?
thanks! 🙂
great news!
how do i use the link port emulation? just starting two instances of the emu? how do i enter the ip info?
yep. i have sent out some more emails, for the second half of the new batch.
hey!
yes, not all flashboys work fine with all loader versions. one of the two latest versions (20080428, 20081026) should always work, though.
from what i understand the padding options do the following:
1: moves the rom “footer” (which contains the header actually) to the end and fills the space between the rom and the rom footer with 0x00s (or was it 0xFFs?)
2: places the rom at the end of the new file, and fills the rest with zeroes
3: duplicates the whole rom once or twice, so the padded roms contains 2 or 4 times the unpadded rom
so, the first two options flash faster, because zeroes can be skipped when flashing.
will you post a link to that tutorial? 🙂
so the first half of the next batch is on sale! emails have been sent to those who preordered before may, 12th.
here’s a quick photo of the “new” flashboys. they have new boxes, which were professionally printed on cardboard, plus a quick reference card and a pvb card. the new price is 85 euro. still 25 euro below the ebay price. 😉
note: of course the package still contains an usb cable, i just forgot to include it on the photo.

i do! it works pretty well for me with the cross eye method. for the first time actually! 😉
posters/flyers can be found in the images subsection. 😉

your image looks much nicer, though, i need to replace the one we have with that one. 🙂
EDIT: done

thanks eric, that’s exactly the points why not everything can be rated/reviewed.
moved the thread to the right forum. please post anything about the website in the “pvb” forum.
