HA, that’s pretty cool. Have fun doing the repairs. =)

The one I got was for an 80’s camcorder. I picked it up, with the working camera, at a thrift shop for $11. I have plans to cut foam for it but haven’t found any locally and haven’t tried to order any online. The case has an awesome retro 80’s look to it, with raised ridges and a great plastic handle. I went this route because I like doing things for myself. I’d rather pay $100 to make my own case than track down one of the block buster cases. Right now I have my VB wrapped in a soft towel and everything else packed around it. It’s a bit messy in there and that was the reason I didn’t want to pack in a $30 box. In retrospect, it may have been more secure in there.

the oven method is temporary at best and if you are not careful you risk ruining your cables. if you are going to go through the bother of opening up your VB then you should look for someone to solder your cables for you.

RunnerPack recently did a solder for one of our members and from what I read the price was extremely reasonable. Perhaps he is willing to take on your cables as well.

Drop Richard an e-mail and inquire about the FB+. He is a really cool guy and 100% trustworthy. =)

I picked up a box awhile back when Chris was still selling them. It sat in a drawer while my FB+ stayed in my VB hardshell case. The box ended up getting a little ruffed up from where it was stored. I don’t regret buying it but now that I have it I don’t really see a need for it. If I displayed my VB games like some of the members here then I feel like the box would have had more meaning for me. But, I don’t collect and display VB stuff, I just game with it.

where did you get the foam from and what type of craft glue did you use?

I also think there should be a ROM hack section. It may promote more hacking. Space Pinball is hidden under Galactic Pinball, in its “Prototype” tab.

I still hunt down VCR tapes at thrift stores. Some stuff has never been transferred to DVD, let alone blu-ray. But programming a VCR? can’t say i’ve had the need to do that in the last 5+ years. in the beginning when DVR wasn’t as reliable i would double record some things, but now with netflix and everything else there isn’t much of a need for entertainment redundancy in my home.

Awesome news! I’m so glad to see this released. I can’t wait to get some playtime with it, after my VB gets repaired.

Looking at this demonstration burns my eyes in a nostalgic way only Nintendo’s black-and-red console ever could. One can only imagine what trauma this would cause with a Rift strapped on

man, i really hate comments like this. some writers should keep their unfounded opinions to themselves.

assuming you do have a game in it… i had a seller lie to me as well. the very first time i adjusted the IPD knob i saw issues with the ribbon cable. When i asked for a $20 refund to get it fixed he flat out refused. i escalated it to paypal but because he listed it “as is” in the description they sided with him. live and learn.

i see the rarest of the rare in that photo. do all of your game and watches work? i also love old LCD handhelds.

that’s pretty cool to the point that i would like to experience it. is there any more info on how it works, what he is using, how it was accomplished it, is it a special build, etc?

entex adventure vision: http://www.gamegavel.com/item.cgi?show_item=0000734948

Adventure Vision utilized a built-in screen that used a single line of forty red LEDs that when combined with a spinning mirror allowed for a screen resolution of 150 x 40 pixels. This was also the same technology that powered another woefully received portable console, the Nintendo Virtual Boy. The Adventure Vision utilized the same core processor as the Magnavox Odyssey 2, the Intel 8048.

pretty rare system. i’ve only seen 1 other up for auction in the last 2 years, neither had a full set of games.

check out hunter, although not a complete game it shows a lot of what the vb is capable of.

someone had the cart? did you happen to get contact information?

i don’t know if this is even worth suggesting, but i’ve always wanted a reproduction of wario land that used a battery cage. i guess it wouldn’t be that difficult for someone to just alter the official cart to support a cage? i’m not experienced at all with soldering which is why i’ve hoped for some type of reproduction.

If the end goal of this project is for you to develop a complete hack for a physical cart release, then go with what you feel is best. After all, it will be your project and you should be happy with the end result.

If the end goal of this project is to release an editor so others can make their own custom builds, then please consider providing a drop down that allows us to patch 1. default controls, 2. strafing on the left d-pad, or 3. strafing on the right d-pad. Unless, of course, this is easier said then done, in which case, continue to go with what you feel is best.

As gamers, we will adapt.

I understand what you are saying and where you are coming from. I would like to test both control schemes and cast my vote on which works best for me.

I wanted to ask one additional question, would it be possible to add a drop down to the editor that patched in 1 of the 3 existing options?

1. default faceball control scheme
2. left d-pad strafing control scheme
3. right d-pad strafing control scheme

It would seem that you already have these working, although I’ve no idea the amount of difficulty it would take to add something like that to the editor. This would possibly be the solution for left and right handed users, while also maintaining the original control scheme for purists.

I am assuming that users would accept that they could choose to use only 1 of 3 schemes. This way there would be no need for an additional options screen. It would seem to me that these 3 control schemes are pick-up-and-play friendly. Even if a readme was not included with the custom build of the game, it would only take a moment to understand how to control the action.

why not print something on the box that says its a reproduction? in fact, that should be considered so that something like this can be released without the fear of ripping off buyers.

i stopped typing on my phone after i discovered the microphone icon. now i just use talk-to-text and make edits for when it screws up. its so much faster then typing with my thumbs.

i’m using google chrome and i’m not having any issues browsing this site.
