Complete collection pics like that always depress me, only 14 measly games released in the US. Sure, most are good, but it’s so pitifully small. Even the Sega 32X has more US games (I think 31, not counting CD games).
I don’t know why I’ve never thought of doing this before, great idea! I guess I’m weird like the rest of you, I like the Virtual Boy’s red graphics.
The only downside here is most Game Boy games use white as the neutral background color, not black like the Virtual Boy. Obviously to keep within the legal Game Boy shades, “white” has to become light red, with red, dark red and black being the other options. What one ends up with is not the same as VB, the very light red is what is used the most, meaning it’s not so red. Any time I try to make the majority color more red or black, the games end up looking like negatives.
The best example of SGB VB coloring is in certain areas of Wario Land 1, where sometimes you enter an indoor room or area, black is used for most of the default color, white is still used where Wario can walk around though.
I didn’t realize you’re in Great Britain, I would have said Mega Drive then.
Well, that’s fine if Hyper Fighting plays best with that.
If you mean the Mega Drive port of Street Fighter II, no I’m not surprised. It has better music than the muddy SNES version and has a better resolution than both the PCE and SNES versions. The only thing the MD version lacks in is the voice sampling.
Yeah it’s hard to say if it’s a problem on my end or PVB’s. That’s why I asked here, if PVB has had server issues in the past.
Yes I did mean Virtual Boy is bad, not PVB. My judgmental friends told me it was a sign. By being blocked from PVB, it meant playing VB is bad and I should stop. Despite that, I still love having my VB stuff. It’s such a weird counterpart to the Game Boy.
You’d be better off with a Genesis 6-button controller, now that was designed for Street Fighter and the like. The SNES controller is weird having some of the buttons moved over to triggers.
Why would anyone want to use something other than a VB controller? It’s one of the best one Nintendo ever made. Nice big handles, clicky but not too clicky d-pads and buttons and good triggers.
Besides, the SNES controller doesn’t have enough buttons. Sure you could omit the right d-pad, but why bother then?
The trick is to jump over either one of the two spike balls. You’ll notice the boss’s mace thing doesn’t reach that far. It’s literally the only safe place where you won’t get hit.
How the hell did Sonic Adventure Limited Edition get released a whole month before the DC’s US launch anyway?
I’m not one for cardboard boxes, so I don’t have much contribution here. JPN V-Tetris and Vertical Force were $5 each and CIB, so I got those instead of paying more for loose carts.
Beat the game on normal too, I think I got ending B. The Demon Head boss was by far the hardest part of the entire game, so many lives lost… The trick I found was you have to be walking left or right to prevent jumping into the background. That made the fight significantly easier. Too bad it’s also really hard to time the jump into his nose to get in a hit.
Been picking away at hard mode, was last at the haunted house. It is indeed much harder than the normal mode, but only because those spiky balls are placed in really annoying places. Would be nice if some more enemies were added, different treasure and key locations too. Some levels certainly could have facilitated that without modification.
So far, Wario Land is my favorite VB game, Bound High is really great too though. It’s hard to think that Bound High went unreleased and so few have played it.
Do the ribbon cables stay stuck in place? If not, you can try heating up the one end of the ribbon cable with a hair dryer then clamp it down with something until it cools. That should be enough for a solder fix to be performed. Just make sure the ribbon cable is perfectly aligned onto the display board, or you’ll always have connection issues.
Looking at the pictures though, I don’t think they’re ruined. What damages ribbon cables is creases. If the video appears good when you press down on the ribbon cable, then it’s fixable with solder.
I don’t mind, I now have two solder fixed VB systems. Thanks for your efforts DogP. Perhaps at some point, new ribbon cables, or even new LED boards, will be a reality.
I think it’s pretty obvious, the VB stretch goal is a million dollars because they don’t intend to actually do it. They know funding won’t get that high.
