If you are only wanting mednafen for virtual boy emulation, there was this post made awhile ago in “News”.

VBjin has a nice GUI and it’s a lot easier to mess with the control input.

thats why I said someone please make anoob tutorial because I suckI got 0.9 and when I drag vb rom to mednafen.exe it starts but goes to “read instruction booklet…” then whatever I press it wont start
I get all these weird things from F1 where I get some menu and then I found out T was for command line but what to write
Why could it not be so easy just load game, F1 for controls and it would work just find
It’s not just you akumie, I have problems using mednafen too and I don’t consider myself inept when it comes to this stuff. Though my problem isn’t the same, it still renders mednafen completely useless for me which is a shame since it’s supposedly the best one out there.
*Signs*
Best game for the Virtual Boy (based on the games I’ve played). I’ve beaten both quests, both at 100% completion and both as speed runs. Couldn’t get enough of this game.
I think most frustrating part of the game for me was the boss on level 4 when I went through on the second quest. That boss is just evil.
Innsmouse would be another good one to play to get in the Halloween spirit. Since my only goal (at the moment) is to play all the US releases, I don’t have that one either (its rarity is also an issue ).
I hope you find yourself a copy of Jack Bros (Japanese version isn’t too hard to find), it’s a lot of fun to pick up and play every once in awhile. For that matter, I hope you get Innsmouse too – props to anyone that can amass a serious collection.
I was also a little sad when I lost my “VB Gamer” rank…
I’d give you my “Virtual Freak” if I could.
Welcome to PVB, I think everyone who got rid of their Virtual Boy back in the 90s are kicking themselves now. If they say otherwise, they’re just in denial. Hope you get your hands on one again soon.
Thanks DogP, I had tried searching the forums for an answer but all I got were posts from years ago (they weren’t too informative). It’s an interesting new rule in the forum, but if it’s already been discussed to death – I don’t want to start all over again. Thanks again!
I haven’t been to the one in Iowa City, but I have been to one of the Gamers in Des Moines. There is a very big difference between the different locations. I visited that one in Des Moines and it didn’t even compare to the one I frequent in Ames. The store was trashed, the guys there weren’t helpful (or all that knowledgeable), and they didn’t have a whole lot on the shelves. So I would recommend visiting several (I especially recommend the Ames location). So if you are in town for an Iowa/Iowa State game, or visiting any smart friends you have at ISU you should check it out.
Well, I just had to say it. If you’re ever in Ames, stop by Gamers on Lincoln Way. They’ve usually got a few VB games, they’ve even got some in box. I know you said you’re not in to collecting them, but you might find one that you don’t have for cheap.
I just have to say it Vaughanabe13…
GO CYCLONES!!!
I can only speak for myself, in general – no, I would rather have a (good) reproducion. Of course, it would depend on the level of damage to the label. In a perfect world, I would definately prefer an original to a reprint, but when I have a dozen carts with perfect labels on them and then one with a large chunk of the label missing (including the name of the game) – the damaged label really sticks out.
I’m not as much of a collector as I am a gamer, and the cart is an original so I’m not too picky about how much of the outside is fake.
As far as this specific issue with the damaged Jack Bros. cart I have, I’m not actually going to replace the entire label. I’ve decided to preserve what label is left, and “patch” the missing portion with a reprint of that part.
Given the poor quality of this article, one could make the argument that it’s a good thing this site wasn’t mentioned. I wouldn’t want them saying that they got their misinformation from this site and by doing so make Planet Virtual Boy look bad.
While looking through this article, one of the glaring mistakes I saw was a screenshot of “Virtual Bowling” which is clearly a screen of Nester’s Funky Bowling. Looking closer at the image I noticed that the player’s name in their screenshot is PVB…
Did they seriously use an image from this site? If they did, how the hell could they have not done at least a little reading to get their facts straight?
This is ridiculous.
His user name is DogP, and he is pretty active here.
I think this is an interesting game concept and I can’t wait to see what you make of it (but being an entomologist – my interest is somewhat skewed). I wish I had some programing experience so I could offer help. If this idea amounts to anything, it might be the homebrew title that finally pushes me to order a flashboy. (Not that Blox & Blox2 aren’t fantastic games)
There’s a thread in the main discussion board with some information on making labels here.
The drop menu that comes when you hover over the “Profile” tab at the top of the screen has an option to edit your collection.
Since stag beetles are insects that are actually pitted against each other in fights, I think you should include one in your character line-up. Sadly, I don’t have any clever names for you.
I’ll be spending my time (like I bet others from PVB will) playing some of my newly aquired Virtual Boy games.
Happy Holidays back to you Hedgetrimmer!
I’ve messed around with the Jack Bros label further, and thought I’d share. If anyone would like to compare it to their cart and make any suggestions, I would appreciate them. I want to make this as close to the original as possible. I’ve mainly attempted to enhance the color in this attempt, but I doubt it’s perfect due to my color blindness.
