Photos of medallion and fixed stand.
I got full 3D models of this & alos dimensioned cad drawings if any help. Maybe a batch could be made and one put on with any broken (or not, give it to them as a bonus as stand crack very easily. You are welcome to copies, if it works out for you we could work out something (i really want a 2nd VB & controller………)
the way i have it fixed now is with through screws, alot studier and no chance of the medallion cracking.
Hope this helps.

Not that it really helps your screw problem as I’m in the UK but my tamper proof screwdriver just turned up here at work, RS code 444-7891, thanks to dasi for posting the info back along. Have to wait til i get home to give it a go, but looks good with not much shoulder if i need to get any ground off.
Hey, welcome to a top community.
I like your tale there, and owning one from original purchase, oh how i envy you, if i had live somewhere the VB was released i would have had one on day one, but back then importing meant upto $600 for it, and as i weren’t working, not gonna happen.
I then forgot about it until a few years back, then i got one and not looked back.

but seriously I’m afraid of a lot of things:
Escalators, Mansions, Batteries, High Hights, Cars, Highways, Hiroshi Yamauchi, Japan, Bugs, Darkness, Lights when they are dying (weird eerie flickering), VHS tapes that come out shredding, stairs, swimming, Car Accidents, Knives and other sharp things, Robots (except particular ones like Teleroboxers… but robots like “Eve” from Wall-E are nightmare-ish) Disney World/Land, Rollercoasters, Floods and other natural disasters and theres other things I’m afraid of but I don’t want to think of my fears
Oh wow there is so much more to fear in this world, take a look around.
ooops sorry am i pushing you into an ocd state?
Seriously like its been said already try and chill, maybe even actually push yourself to open the gameboy, go on, for all of us don’t let it go just cos it looks like its got a stain near it.
A friend of mine does have ocd and it made his life suck until he addressed it, not cured now but so much better, no longer taking 20mins to lock the door….. address these fears now and don’t let them take over.
the Bene Gesserit (Dune novels) litany against fear is a good one:
I must not fear fear is the mind killer, fear is the little death that brings total obliteration, i will face my fear i will allow it to pass over me and through me and when the fear has gone past only i will remain.
or words to that effect, i’m being too lazy to check out the actually wording.
Also yes you are a terrible Gunpei fan, keeping a psp in the same draw as a gameboy……
If you can’t face opening these items give them to a friend, at least someone might get some use and enjoyment from them.

If we want it to look good it’s best done from a proper CAD-drawing in my opinion.
I have a full 3D model of the cart which i can export to any format you need, its not a mold model, ie no draft angles etc but it is accurate.
Let me know if you need and what format and I’ll send on over, i can remove any logos or text if needed its a fully editable solidworks model so easy to supress features and then convert.
Hope this helps, like you say no harm in asking.
I’ve been wanting to get a clear one milled up but not had the time, maybe one day.
Cheers
Al
edit: oops this was meant to be a pm to e5frog, anyone else want a CAD copy too?
I couldn’t profess to have thought that one up, someone wrote similar in a post back some time, I thought it summed up VB perfectly, i added the smoke bit.
By the way large game collection in your other post there, I now have to ask, have you played them all?

Its not that I’m “OH GOSH, Virtual Boy IS good?!?” its just hardly no other videogame or console has ever given such extreme happiness and constant giggling as VB did… it must be magical
Ahhh I see where your excitement has come from, fair play understandable, and yes it is magical, all done with smoke & mirrors, well the smoke bit is purely optional.
@ gunpeiyokoifan: HARRAH you played it. Now you know.
But your post kind of makes it out that you were surprised at how awesome this machine is, I mean its not a case of ‘the emperors new clothes’ where we have all been kidding each other and really its a pile of junk and we are just jumping on some kind of retro bandwagon. Of course its awesome and funny and makes us happy, its Nintendo.
Anyway i don’t want to come across negative, I am pleased you have played and plan on playing more, Wario is a top game, keep up the collecting AND playing, play all the games you have or get, even if its only for 10 or 15 mins, i didn’t give baseball much longer than that but i did play it.
I think you should maybe give Tennis another go , its a great little tennis game (I’m not into sport games either but I do like this one) but besides that check out the other characters courts, look into the backgrounds, look around the screen, I love the way that anything you want to look at relating to depth in the screen comes into focus when you look at it (just like real life!) IMO thats the major difference between VB 3D and these ‘3D’ movies they are hyping, you wanna check out the backgrounds in 3D Avatar, oh no you can’t its blurred.
Mmmm think thats about it for now, just have fun with it, VB was made to be played. (that could be my new tag line….)
undead: oh wow chill. Do you think your Flashboy is worth more because it might have been the last one, is the Flashboy not about being able to play games and if Chris can make more and hence make more VB fans happy that they can play everything on hardware then IMO thats the point, to play.
You kind of said it yourself, this is life, so if more get made tough live with it, play with it, enjoy it.
Ta for the info Dan, interesting.
I know in Solidworks its slower to rotate & zoom etc when you choose to have the model displayed in wireframe hidden rather than rendered.
I don’t know the programming for wireframe in Vb but rather than take up space solid filling the faces it could be more efficient to just hide the detail behind, in which case the faces would appear black.
But then its all academic as you are most likely right and its just the standard screen shot.
Does anyone know if its less memory or programming to just hide rather than solid fill the faces? or is it even an option? Again all academic as I’m not gonna be programming, but is of interest.
looking thru the new scans it also showed the 08/95 scan to and is it just me or does the Red Alarm screen shot (very small) show solid wireframes (as opposed to the see thru wireframe in the released game).
My guess would be that if they were solid then the game most likely slowed down during hectic play so to keep the frame rate up they removed the faces and just kept the wires.
I love this game and don’t have any problem seeing the objects, ships, enemies etc as wires but would be cool to see if it was originally solid.
Are there other pre-release red alarm screens that maybe show this more? (mild nudge there if anyone else wants to search too)
make awesome noise

Do you have $2,500 handy? If so, you can get every single Virtual Boy game ever released in both Japan and the U.S.Every single VB game on eBay.
Not quite, he’s missing the rare Japanese ones, Gundam, Space Invaders etc, only 14 of the 19 JPN games in there, pity cos with the rares that price would be good.
@Dasi
nice one, I have been trying to figure out what to search for and where to get one here in UK, now I know, will get one on order through work account, slip it onto the next RS order and no postage costs even better.
some details seem to have already leaked, could be fake but we only got 1 day more til shigsy & the gang show us some new eye candy, I’m gonna have to get me one of them reserved for release day.

– but I guess it should be something more electronic…Shaggy Boombastic maybe?
I gotta say how does Shaggy even get near being electronic music, or IMO even be called music.
Sorry to rib you for music tastes we all likes different stuff, I’m pretty sure most of what i listen to is not everyones cup of tea.
I shall have a dig through my records as well, surely there’s a nice piece of music in there from 1995 or thereabouts

I’m thinking some EON for music, the sounds that fella made were awesome, let me know if you need any tracks bud.
Or we just mess about with the Kaosillator until music is made.
Top work fella, looking forward to full version.
