Let me first tell you this, I am not saying the person who repaired your screen didn’t do a bang up job, it can sometimes happen that a connection isn’t completely through and through, it has happened twice to me.
With that out of the way, I think there is a problem with the soldering Morintary and the Iron trick just helped getting the trace on the display board for a while, just like the oven trick.
The problem you are describing with the IPD is something I have seen myself a few times when soldering displays. It means that one or more traces didn’t get a good connection while soldering.
I just got one display back from a member here that had the same problem which I barely got right again, though I did. You can’t see it with the naked eye, but it surely must have been a bad connection in your case as well. So be warned that it probably will come back.
If a crease in the cable would really have been the problem, it wouldn’t have been repairable like you did as copper doesn’t work that way.

Don’t worry about it! I have fixed a boatload of displays, but stopped since I do not have any spares laying around. They almost always work out without problems, but every now and then there can be a display that doesn’t want to cooperate. This can happen randomly, so for repairing with a guarantee I need spare displays which I do not have. And let me tell you this, you do not want to send me displays and only be let down by the fact that it didn’t work for both displays.
This really is a very good start! Though, with all the attention I hope the official SF rights owners will not come down on this site and crush our nice community.

Indeed and in a lot of cases even with a game inserted you might not see anything (you should hear the game sounds though!) if you are unlucky and got struck by the glitchy display problem.

Very nice initiative DogP! I hope most of the people taking you up on the offer are indeed genuine VB fans and are not doing it to make a profit off of you.

It was removed because the title of the auction had Virtual Boy and Wario in it while it had less than nothing to do with both.
The auction contained two see through glasses, which couldn’t have been 3D since it was just one allover screen, type head mounts. They were set at $25 so it could never have been anything interesting if someone also tried to fool people in thinking it had anything to do with the VB or Wario.
Yes “Mr Chakin” you are right technically, but who on earth is going take the security screws out just to put them in again. I for one wouldn’t and I don’t know anyone who would.
I recently fixed a Virtual Boy for an American memeber here and he specifically instructed me to put the gamebit screws back in. So, there are purists out there that do put them, or let them put, back in those screws.
I have repaired a lot of VB displays until today, and always guaranteed a 100% satisfactory outcome. Though, today I repaired my last set with that guarantee, I do not have any spare displays left.
I had two spare displays and used my second today for a member of PVB.
This means that if you want me to repair your display, I cannot guarantee it, chances of failure are pretty slim, but real (I have repaired about 30 pairs, which means 60 displays and two of them were irreparable).
If you do not like your chances, then I cannot help you to solder fix your displays. Just an FYI.
I am trying to buy a set of displays to solve this in the future, though I am not spending too much on them.
With prices of VB’s including shipping to Europe that are rising and rising I cannot tell anyone how fast I will get a reasonably priced spare set.

I certainly would be up for that, it is just such BS, the 3DS gives you more of a problem viewing the system in 3D than the VB does and look how well that is doing sales wise!
