Alright, post back when it doesn’t work. I’ve been reading all the preliminary reviews of the 3DS and they all say the 3D camera feature is garbage. You do realize there is no 3D video yet, right? I can’t think of any way this idea would be useful other than a single still image of a VB screen, which would be pretty uneventful for the amount of work it would take to get it to work. Here is the camera spacing:

So do you not want me to post if it does work?
I did start the thread with ‘this is a pointless exercise’ you seem to be a little riled by the idea, its just for fun, kind of like a game, chill. If i want to play VB in 3D, I’ll use the head unit, and yes I’m aware there is no video, again i never mentioned making a movie or even taking a picture, i just posted a daft idea, but I’ll be sure to never do that again, slaps wrists for trying to enjoy life.
All speculation for now, I’ll be giving it a go just to see if something can be seen, all points mentioned seem relevant, I think an image of some sort will be generated but how clear etc is another matter, I’ll know in a few days, it was only ever a fleeting thought i had on a hazy evening last week. 😀

don’t feel bad, I come up with ideas many might consider crazy all the time!I like the idea, but would it really work? 😕
Lol, i don’t feel bad, i know your ideas are just about the craziest out there, so i have a way to go to catch up. 😀
don’t stop having them thoughts through, you might one day unlock the secret to dark matter energy capture and that could lead to wormholes.
Back to subject, I think this will work to some degree, so def gonna give it a go.

I’m really underwhelmed by the launch games. I think they need to have a really strong start with good first party games and so far there doesn’t seem to be anything particularly amazing that will be a must-have title. I guess you could argue Pilot Wings but I really don’t have any nostalgic connection to that game like some people do.
Yeah def not the most inspiring collection for launch.
was looking even worse for me until Pilotwings was announced as launch for US & UK. I do have very fond memories of borrowing those 2 on the snes & n64, i can’t have had the cash at the time to buy them, else i would still own them, but top games.
The flight bits in Wii sport resort reminded me of them so once Pilotwings was announced i knew how it would look and behave, but its still not a must have nintendo franchise launch game, but then they did say they wanted third party Co’s to take on the launch, pity, cos we all know Nintendo games show the rest how to use their hardware, then they all struggle to keep up.
Yep I’m with VBSAM there, black for me.
I have not tried one out, and not that worried to either, although I’m sure if the demo unit that was advertised out front of a shop in town last week did actually exist, i would most likely have given it a go, but it wasn’t there. I know it will be great, just how great I’ll know in a little over a week, I’ve made myself not check out the vids etc on all the features, I kinda know what it all does but I want the surprises and Nintendo grins for me on day one.
First game purchase: Pilotwings
Howdy LK,
Welcome, you picked the best VB site already.
Like your tale and great you made the plunge, it is a very fun system.
Enjoy the scene just take your time and check it all out, even the basic demos are fun to view with a flashboy.
Gone a bit offtopic there but got cats in so had to reply.
If those are your cats then you very lucky, we have a Ginger boy just like that, but cooler, IMO, he doesn’t own a pirate costume though.
@akumie
If it interests you, you could always check gender in the profiles, you might find an answer.
Wow what a movie, what an insight, what a twat, I mean how in the times is this fella trying to jump on a bandwagon that left 15 years ago.
No doubt he plans on doing one for the 3DS along a similar vein, in 2026.
Nice review, I have not played either of them on VB unit but now I think I’ll give virtual bowling a go, well when time is my friend again…….
Think the unit came from ebay, was a gift so not 100% sure, then I bought from amazon, cos i had a voucher and wanted red alarm, got some from ebay and then a couple recently from this sites market place.

Akumie whining about homebrewers not finishing their projects? Oh, right… the same thing as all his other posts.Rather than whining about it, how about you pick up a book on programming, or read some tutorials… or even just get the compiler set up on your computer and start changing existing code until you get an idea of what it’s doing. Oh yeah… because it’s too hard.
DogP
Good point DogP, well made.
Akumie bashing ahead: you can’t say ‘I don’t see the problem’ of course you don’t you have no idea what is involved.
Try it Akumie, and when you make a single dot move as you press controller buttons, or even just an image of your own appear on screen, then you have a small bit of justification in saying ‘I don’t see the problem’, but in the 5 mins it took you to do that you will have mastered the art of programming and have us a fully working game to blow the likes of Bound High away, cos its really easy and everyone is just lazy and not dedicated, I’ll be here waiting to play your game buddy, still waiting, still here, going now.
My ace wife bought mine for my ‘cough’ 40th in 2008.
Wanted one from 1995 when first heard of it but being in europe never got released so i never even saw one til about 5 years back. That was in a local shop but they never got it working so i never bought it, always wanted to play one though so was real pleased to get a boxed almost perfect condition JPN one, not looked back, love it.
I still never got to log in with opera 11, just couldn’t get to put anything into the password field, i did all the pressing tab several times etc but nothing, so i removed it and went back to v9, which does the job, but it does need a few tab presses to get to the password field.
Only 2 Mario games released, and each totally differant from the other, not an easy choice.
Tennis is a good little game, and seems to have been a good wedge of peoples first VB experience, but then Clash is like you say the classic battle, but with odd button configuration & that makes it annoying, unless you load up the patched version from DogP.
My choice, actually at the moment its Clash.
How i wish that initial Mario demo made it to a fully fledged game, that would have been sweet.

Heh, a friend at work told me about this today as well… that’s pretty funny that they paid $80 for a broken VB :-P. It definitely has at least one bad display from watching the video. Of course it all depends how much you believe “reality” shows.DogP
Y’mean, no you can’t be right, tv wouldn’t lie to us, would it? Surly its ‘as honest as a governement’, I think you will find thats a very common saying, especially here in the UK. 😀
Great to see this. The picture almost looks like its gonna say 2P link up, but you can’t see any link cable, they just teased us having 2 chaps sitting at the same table.
Anyone found any 2P code in panic bomber source?
Great reviews, best i’ve seen for VB, or most other consoles in fact, top work keep it up, I’m looking forward to more.
Perfect start with Tennis, gotta be everyones (well almost) first VB experience.
Totally agree, Red Alarm is best game on VB and I too love wireframe graphics, never had an issue with them but then i have worked with wireframe and CAD for 15+ years now which helps.
Yeah i caught that too, Ross can’t have it set up right if he’s getting headaches.
As annoying as he has become (I used to respect his movie reviews but he panders and fawns to the stars now) his gaming creds are good so not a bad choice of host.
So we get it before the US, cool, but we pay a heap more, meh, to be expected.
My name is second on the pre-order list, deposit paid, and i got the day booked off work, but 2 months to wait, unless i take a leaf out of Cartmans book and bury myself in snow to cryogenically freeze, oh no that won’t work, we got no snow.
These scans are great, by far the best shot of Dragon Hopper, top job.

now you’re making me feel sad I uploaded one of my lame doodles once 😛
Oh yeah your xmas doodle, not lame, wierd maybe but don’t change, the world needs wierd. You might not think so now but i bet you end up using it as a Christmas card in 20years time. 😀
I got a chunky plastic one made for mine (cnc machined), works well. The one i actually use now has fixing screws that go fully through the ‘medallion’ to the metal bracket on the stand, it then just flexes around the screw holes and not the material deforming to allow the legs to open.
There has been talk of getting batches of this type of thing made but currently mold costs are a bit of a stumbling point, but i think it is beeing looked into.
