I had another look at the maps using reality boy when “fighting” against Chader. Turned out that the same image is used for the the win/loose screen as for the character selection …and there is just a blank space instead of the image for him. So chances are good that there is no image of him in the rom.

However, I also checked the maps on the Judgment screen and it shows a total of 9 Robots, one more then playable in the game. This leads me to the conclusion that the image I found is actually Headome.

Maybe there are sprites of him somewhere in the Rom but I doubt.

I actually managed to get to the win/loose screen yesterday. Basically, I would win/losse against the first opponent and then, before the game goes to the result screen, switch the enemy. I could actually still switch the enemy when on that screen. It would then switch the text but not the image.

However, the result screen for Chader would never show a text nor an image. The rom itself contains the text for Chader though. So maybe there is an image of him hidden in the rom after all.

Nintendo announced the next new model for 2015 😕 My showcase was to small.. 🙁

I love your showcase. The Mario statue is fantastic!

Here’s this week’s pick ups:

Mario Kart 8 is such a good game. My favorite was Double Dash so far but this one might take the crown, at least for the single player. I couldn’t stop playing until there was nothing left to do. The DLC is fun as well, especially Mute City.

Super Mario 3D World is fun as well. I actually do have the 5 stars in the start menu by now.

That’s pretty cool. Would have been very handy in the past. Well, there will always be more rom-hacks I guess.

If you are planning to include VirtualBox into a later release I could go ahead and adapt it to the new structure. Just in case someone actually wants to use it.

Would love to hear any update on the final release of Hyper Fighting. It is such an amazing game and project. Kudos to the creators.

It is always a good idea to contact Bigmak (http://www.planetvb.com/modules/usercenter/index.php?section=profile&uid=648) regarding theses topics. I hear he knows a good recipe for potato salad as well.

cool, i didn’t actually know there was an option to solder the ribbons. Would all i have to send be the two ribbon cable pieces themselves?

The oven fix is temporary and potentially harmful to the displays. For the solider fix will need to remove the displays which is very easy when you have the right tool.

You might want to contact TheForce81 (Europe):

or Runnerpack (USA)

and ask them if they are willing to fix them. Runnerpack did an excellent job on 3 VirtualBoys of mine.

I’m a console collector so majority of my older systems are modded or I have the flash carts for them. The Dreamcast has a whole folder of burned games. I do pick up some real games now and then. For instance, I’m a big Pokémon game collector and have all of them as well as roms.

I brought home the original XBOX & controller (shitty original one), PS1, SNES & controllers, NES (toaster model), PS2 Eye Toy, NES controller, NES clone machine, The Godfather for the PSP, and The Con for the PSP.

I always loved the design of the orginal Playstation. I still have mine. It’s a SCPH-100x so it has the Parallel I/O port and the RCA jacks. I also still have a GameShark module for the Parallel port. Sadly, most of the PSX games didn’t age too well.

You forgot Hyper Fighting

Glad you are doing better now.

Picked all this up today for $30. I also have the VMU but it’s in the controller.

I remember playing the Dreamcast at a friends house when it wasn’t discontinued yet. We actually played Sonics Adventure and Crazy Taxi. We had allot of fun with those but I was easy to entertain at the time. We also played House of the Dead 2 with the Lightgun. $30 is a very good deal.

As far as the best homebrew I think I may make a separate thread for that so I can get everyone’s input. This project has plenty of time before it’s “due” lol

You can make a poll when creating that threat. Not sure if you can have a poll where you can vote for multiple entries though. Maybe you even want to split the poll into homebrew demo and homebrew game.

I like it. Looks pretty professional already. The only textpart that I thought was strange is:
“Gunpei Yokoi, (created the Game Boy and Game & Watch handhelds) was…”
I think it would sound better if you write:
“Gunpei Yokoi, (creator of the Game Boy and Game & Watch handhelds) was…”

Personally, I think Hyper Fighting is a pretty good Homebrew and is worth being mentioned in the “TOP 5 HOMEBREW GAMES” (Even if that kicks one of my games out of the list). The Soviet Union games are also pretty cool and in my opinion better then the 2 Snake games. Just my personal taste though.

I though about continuing (or rather starting over) on this one a couple of times. I never managed to compile the demo in the first place though.

However, I think making a true complete Mario game is a massive undertaking that takes allot of dedication from everyone involved. Personally, I’m tied up with a different game which I will hope to release for the anniversary next year.

HoMenace said a post or two below he deleted the covers for Fishing, Faceball VB, Blox and Space Pinball before he uploaded them.

I see. You can ask UncleTusk then (http://www.planetvb.com/modules/usercenter/index.php?section=profile&uid=2945). He made the Boxes after all so he has the original Photoshop files of those. I think he will happily provide them (or a high res rastered image) as he is not selling those games anymore.

That should cover Faceball Prototype, Blox and Space Pinball.

I have the original box art for Fishbone in case you want to change something to my cover.

I don’t have any of the Japanse Boxes but as you said there should be good scans of those on this site.

I would guess the rumor originates from this site: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons

Virtual Bart, despite its name actually released on the SNES and the Sega Genesis, not the Virtual Boy, in 1994.

I guess someone read it wrong and assumed there was a port in the making.

You can see here: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=27143#forumpost27143 that HoMenace already has covers for Space Pinball, Blox, Faceball Prototype Edition and Japanese Virtual Fishing.

I don’t know if they are floating around somewhere on this site but there are basically 3 threads to check:

Maybe you just want to ask HoMenace to post the covers or ask him where he got them from.

if you look at KRISSE’s link, you’ll see that someone named Preston J. Walker successfully trademarked the term “Virtual Boy” in 2010, long after Nintendo’s expired. Any ideas?

He is one of the founders of a band called Virtual Boy: http://www.alphapuprecords.com/artistpage.php?ArtistID=162

Kicked mine of the couch once. Nothing broke. It is a very robust system after all.

If your displays have never been solider fixed they will glitch sooner or later none the less.

LOL, $200 for Faceball Remastered? You can still get it for $80 in Tusks shop. He could have been a bit more specific in the item descriptions.

What he writes isn’t really wrong (except for using NTSC as a synonym for an english/american release). He doesn’t mention that it is a fan translation and custom box/manual. However, he is not very specific in his other auctions as well.

He is asking for very high prices. However, he has the “best offer” option enabled.

The general problem is that Tusks repos just look to close to official releases. That’s why I wrote very clearly on the back of the Faceball Box that it is a Rom-Hack. I’m really curious if someone will pick it up for that price.
