I don’t understand these people, if your not a fan of something why try mess it up for others (Not that they could anyway)? I’m not a big fan of PlayStation but if someone wanted to release a prototype of resident evil 1.5 or whatever else I would fully support them.
Silly people, still its all publicist I guess.
Sorry rant over.

You can be pretty sure that none of those guys is older then 16 years (at least mentally).

Oh those comments are funny though, but then most things said about the VB by the uninformed are.
They would be understandable if someone say lost an eye or went blind back in 1995 cos of VB but I’m pretty safe in saying no-body did, no-body was harmed in the playing of this console.

But then if the cool kids think VB is crap maybe I’m wrong……….

Supa cool stunning work by all.
Really looking forward to seeing how this all pans out.
Shine on you crazy red console of joy.

I recently bought one for £110, no box, good condition, all working, it came with a 72 in 1 cart containing all games and some homebrew. I’m very pleased with it.
It sure is a good console, nothing looks like it graphically, and the games are fun.

However, I think I will not continue until next year. I wanted to have this ready as a Christmas present for the community. I’m almost there but I feel like I need a break to play some video-games. I got some pretty awesome games lately and I barely had the chance to play them. I think I will start with Dishonored.

Enjoy your festive gaming, I’m sure everyone here will be getting at least 1 game for a system they own so they should in theory be game entertained. I’m eager to get my hands on Virtues last reward on the 3DS, I know its wrapped up and waiting for me somewhere in my wifes wardrobe, for anyone not familiar try and get yourself a copy of 999 on the DS, its really cool, and needs to be played before the 3DS one, not long now….
I’m really looking forward to playing Fishbone and it now gives something unique to VB to look forward to in 2013.

If you like hot sauce please run out tomorrow and buy *** type of pepper, virgin vinegar, and salt that you probably already have. You’d be shocked how few folks make hot sauce these days.

I have done just that, apart from the chillis are from my 2012 crop. The sauce is good, I used Orange habanero chillis and they are really good and hot, so thanks VJ for the simple recipe, and yes folks it really is that simple, boil it then blend it.
One point though, we had to vacate our house leaving all the windows open for several hours as the smell is a bit over powering, to the point of not being able to breath, so maybe a small gas stove in the garden is the way to do it.

I won’t have access to the internet for the next few hours, so this will have to do. 😉

Getting your self prepared eh, wise move, I have been a whole day without internet before, I didn’t like it but survived.
Anyway my bunker is fully kitted out, well bunker is more like the shed, fully kitted out with an ash tray and a gas stove, gonna sit it out smoking and drinking tea, my wife wonders why we have to sit in the shed as surely the house is a little stronger if things fall from the sky…..think she might be right.

@thunderstruck: your dedication and hard work on all these projects is nothing short of legendary, such great work for the VB gaming community, so so many thanks and big kudos to you and everyone else who has made 2012 what it was for the VB, the future is bright red, all 3 days left of it…….:)

I look forward to seeing what 2013 has in store for the VB as 2012 has been an exceptional year.

Not bad at all, a stylized version sure, but it works, looks like a VB.
If anything you could have made it a little more angular with smaller filleted edges, but considering you don’t have a unit in front of you to go on its pretty good.

My recommendation, buy a VB, play it, then if you find you still have free time, tweak your model a little.

Freaking awesome: the news, the release, Bigmak, all freaking awesome.

And seriously people moaning that you are selling carts and being greedy, you could have done all whats been mentioned, and keep it all for yourself but no, you stepped up and have made many many VB gamers happy. Kudos to you my friend.

I hope I can get some funds raised to get me a cart copy, I’d be up for buying later next year one even once the ROM is released.

Stunning, just a stunning. Its Monday, I’m at work, yet happy……..:)

Awesome! This helps a lot. It wont look as good in 3ds max considering I am free styling it and not doing exact measurements but this PDF render helps a lot for the stand.

Thanks.

No problem, I’m pleased you like it. You do know its a 3D viewable pdf, not just a render, you can rotate, pan, zoom, hide parts, make them transparent etc.
I see yours is more stylized, I’m a 3D draughtsman so being dimensionally accurate is the thing I try and achieve, but so long as you keep that style its will look good once you have it finished.

I have got some parts 3D modelled, I use Solidworks so mine is dimensionally accurate, copy of the stand as a 3D pdf enclosed.
I have not done the head unit or visor, but hopefully this will help you out.

Looking good fella.
I like the clamp too, small and simple looking but got to be a heap stronger than the plastic.

I have been contemplating getting the aluminum parts on mine, sprayed or coated black, might have to get it sorted now there is some stand competition going.
Your base is way cool BTW. Top job.

Its the clamp clasp you posted a pic of thats busted, my fix kit sorts the cracked medallion issue, I have not tried having a clasp printed, not got a printer and not in any need. The STL 3D geometry models are at the beginning of this post, page 1, so if anyone wants to try I’d be interested to see pics and know the strength etc.
I have had stuff printed through Shapeways, comes out quite good, not sure on the strength that the clasp needs can be achieved but I guess there is really only 1 way to find out.

Gloves going back on. It’s looking like the Mrs. will kill me if I bid on this thing…

Heh… I’m sure that if I had a Mrs., I’d have a hard time trying to keep my entire VB collection. I’ve never met a woman who understands my appreciation for gaming.

You need to find the right one, my wife actually started my VB collection (not really a collection when compared to you guys) by buying me a really nice Japanese one in the box for my 40th, she is a gem and sorry all mine.

I still have my original Parachute (not got a pic) but I’m bit gutted as a couple of months ago it fell off the shelf i had it on and happened to land on its corner on the metal track for my sliding doors, and its now got a chunk missing, I’ve had it since 1981 and even though me and my bro both played the crap out of it it stayed good, until a couple of months ago, ah well I guess thats what ebay is for…..
But yes they are fun little games, I think I also have a mini Zelda one somewhere, one of the repro type ones they did a while back, but smaller.

To someone from New York.
I got your message but it seems the site has deleted your user profile so I don’t know who you are, could you please re-register.
I don’t want to post my email address online so I only initially make contact with PM’s through this site.
I can sort you a kit no problem, just need to know who you are.

@ Xanamander: you are most welcome, I am pleased you can play VB the right way once more.

Top job Ben, those look way cool.

nice one, its gotta be Princess Peach leaning in for a big kiss, prize please……

Just donate it to James Rolfe.

– James Rolfe (AVGN) hates the Virtual Boy, he truly does. Why would you send him a game for a console that he hates? He didn’t even want that copy of Jack Bros. that he was sent for free.

I think there was maybe a little sarcasm going on with thunderstruck there….

That Asteroids vid is cool, even though its not vector it still looks pretty good for bitmaps. Would be interesting to play on VB with some 3D background stuff going on.
Asteroids was one of them games that everyone tried to copy but IMO most failed, it needed vectors to look right and with the low res of consoles etc back then it just never really worked, but this looks good.
Asteroid clone that worked: vectrex minstorm, not strictly asteroids but pretty damn close and it still looks awesome, but then I would think that having only recently bought myself a vectrex so am loving the vector retro joy.
