PS. maybe there are some collecters out there that don’t have the official earphones? Just found it, a bit to expensive for me though.

Sorry to say but if those earphone are too expensive for you then you might be surprised by the cost of some games, Gundam goes for silly money ($500 plus) Space Invaders is pretty expensive too ($150 plus) (I’m not totally up on prices for these, just from what i have seen on ebay)
I recommend a Flashboy, you can play all games on hardware and then only need collect the carts you really want rather than being tied to getting them all for a collection, just my own view as playing the games to me is the most important bit.
By the way top call on getting yourself a VB, welcome to a great site.

One idea: It’s probably impossible to create animations with Solidworks, but if it was possible, it would be cool to show the controller (without the “tentacles”) in some motion; it could for example move/spin to the position it has on the poster, then you see the buttons and d-pads fly out of it to form the “tentacles” seen on the poster artwork (BTW, those are meant as an allegory for creativity.)
Not impossible to do animations in SW, not easy and not something i have much of a grasp of currently, I need less ‘work’ to do so i can figure out some of these things.
I like the idea and i know how i would do it in 3D Studio, just need to figure if it can be done in SW. Basic motions etc i kind of have sussed but the ‘growing tentacle’ is a little more tricky…..I’ll ponder that with a cup of tea.

Such a good starting idea for those thinking of entering…remake an arcade classic for VB!!
Oh yeah Space Harrier, as i think Runnerpack already mentioned, if the effects could be pulled off right it would look great in 3D VB style.
Could the source for it be modded/tweeked to suit VB?
Or am i being a wee bit optimistic there.

The ROMs they are talking about are the rare Japanese games, “Virtual Bowling”, “SD Gundam”, “Space Invaders” and “Virtual Lab” I believe (someone correct me it I’m wrong please). The reason some people didn’t want these released is because the value would then go down.
Hehe, Oh yeah they were totally right hey, prices slashed, just picked up Gundam & Invaders for $15, mint sealed and will arrive from Geidi Prime any day now, from the Barons own personal collection……shall i go on or has the sarcasm got through.
Thankyou to everyone who had a hand in getting this sorted, i now have to get my flashboy back from being loaned out to play this fully.
May all your future coding compile first time, thanks again.

Red alarm is not a shmup ( 2d shooter ) beacouse it has also some 3d effects.Just like space invaders also is not a shmup beacouse of the 3d effects
Eh????
When did the term ‘shmup’ only ever mean 2D shoot-em-up?
I thought the whole point of a shmup was to shoot-em-up, basically you shoot lots of things, regardless of 2D or 3D you just shoot stuff.
So IMO Red Alarm is a shmup. Space Invader is a shmup.
Feck thats a lot of cash for a non 3D experience on a PAL only tv, which is great for me from UK, but i doubt I’ll be making a bid.
Kinda looks official, I too am intrigued as to what this actually is.

Nintendo Virtual Boy TV Boy VIRTUAL BOY GAMES ON TVDont know what it is or iff it is originaal but he is asking 50.000$
Akumie, come on, be reasonable.
No need to repeat but i totally agree with whats been covered by these other fine busy fellas, get off ya own arse and have a go, or maybe donate 10 grand so someone can take time off their work so they can dev you a game!
Or leave the VB scene alone for 2 years, play on some other console forum, then come back and play the 2 new homebrew games that would be out by then.
Waiting and longing for something to happen but not doing anything more about it than moan is just sad, sorry to be like that but deal with it.
So please prove us all wrong and make the most stunning VB homebrew game ever.
Hehe, good one, although as I open this site in opera I didn’t figure it until I tried in murkysoft explorer, nice.
Cool unit there Italian Boy, is that Paper Mario you are playing?
The site content is what matters IMO, the look of it is an added bonus & the name kinda negligable.
You do a great job Krisse both with your programming and investigation into all things VB that come your way. So long as people find the site and the info they are after then job done and much gratitude to you.
Whatever you want to call this, we’ll be there eager for the next new screen shot from Barbie goes Virtual, oh damn i just leaked next weeks top news……..
I also love reading the random rambling of my fellow VB freaks, this is the best community i have encountered.
The guy does say its not got Virtual Boy on them anywhere, so why they are advertised as such is most likely cos you get more for Nintendo VB related stuff than just standard Nintendo E3(maybe?) freebee’s.
Nice if you are a Nintendo collector, but bit pricey IMO.
Man they are top, to finally see the dolphin demo with movement & Mario and Starfox and…. well top notch that totally made my day.
Krisse, is this the treat?
cos its a top one.

How does your “Powerboy” look?
I have a couple of them, a blue prototype one, pic enclosed, and another made from Red plastic, not got a photo but the render is kinda how it looks, but its red.
Got them machined at work and added in some bits to make to connections, I will probably make a batch up at some point for trade/selling purposes.
Just had my battery pack fixed, a fella here had the parts and soldered it for me last night. I am wanting a dead display VB so i can try and fix it, the fella who did my batt box is up for having a go at re-attaching ribbon cables, I missed a busted VB on ebay over the weekend, so if anyone in UK has a VB with no display I am up for buying it, i would need the controller & stand too.

Nice. Thats answered why mine went (within 2 weeks of getting my VB), didn’t find the pack came apart like that, i just bypassed the lot with a thin wire from in the battery pack out into the controller contact, that then pushed me to make up my Powerboy to take standard DC transformer. I’ll have to crack open my pack and sort it and can loose the outer wire setup hassles for those quick sessions.
Thanks fellas,

I think the distance from the middle knob to where the slant starts looks a little short on the inside, the groove where it says Virtual Boy a little to wide and the letters of the text slightly too high… But all those are really the same thing.
You could be right i measured it kind of quick, part of it could be just how the ‘shell’ operation worked out for that part, it would offset by the same amount on all surfaces and that is probably not how the plastic molded.
Other than that – beautiful!
Thanks.
The one with the most money send it in to a manufacturer and get it done for real…
I am hoping i can maybe get one machined up in clear acrylic, the machining marks can be ‘flame’ polished out, a blow torch gently melts the machined surface and returns it to smooth & clear, thats the theory and in the very small trial i did it worked about 75-80%, just got to be carefull with the flame distance and time held.
Howdy bud, nice to see a familiar face.
Yeah i now got a local VB buddy.
You fellas are top notch at this, nice job.
This is prob a dumb question but how does the patch work, is this something that works with the emulators or can it be patched to the ROM and played on Flashboy.
I am at work so not able to try any thing but if this patches the ROM and can play Mario with the correct keys on Flashboy then that is top speedy fix work fellas, many thanks.
Would it be possible to swap the buttons over in Mario Clash, so you can jump with the classic Mario jump button ‘A’, might make the game less frustrating as it always gets me, I am just so used to pressing A to make Mario jump across all other platforms.
